anyone else find that very odd? WTH people.

typically speaking auctions are where the good deals are... must have been a big audience for this one for the prices to get that high... or else there was a sleeper bidding the prices up a bit for them....

happened all the time.usually were over what i wanted to pay from the start they are there to make money not friends

True, but dang this is an auction and for a dirt bag no less. You'd think peeps would hold out a bit and try for the good deal on some of the items.

true, but to make any money, you have to have people actually buy the products in the end right? the "sleepers" might increase the price, but in the end, some sucker still bought the thing.

I don't get it, in an age when home prices a 1/3 of what they used to be a couple of years ago, you have people paying more then they need to for a snowmobile.

Weird..

no doubt. It seems like many went there and said, this person screwed people over so I am going to pay full price...

A friend of mine frequents the auctions. He said he wouldn't go to this one because everything is going to go for more than it's worth. I guess he was right!!

I can assure you there were no sleepers in the audience. I have worked for the JG Murphy auction co for over 17 years and can tell you that no funny business takes place there. These items had a great deal of publicity adding to the attendance and of the auction, every thing sold with no minimums reserves or starting bids. I haven't seen a huge recession at any of the contractor auctions in the past year, things aren't what they were a couple of years ago but not bad when you observe the over all state of the economy.
I do agree with you guys that the prices on most of these items seemed over the top. If I was going to buy some thing for myself at auction I would try and buy it with enough margin to make a profit if I decided to resell it.

Agreed with winter brew, not as good as you would get in an open market.Plus the ***** should be hung with a rope in Safeco field. Cheers Red Dog.

Any reason why?

I see the reasoning that there were more people there, and therefore prices were higher, but the only justification is that there were more people that did not know the used price for the things that they were bidding on.

You got it....Because of the publicity and more people bidding.
Doesn't seem logical to me either, but then most things don't. :face-icon-small-con

keep in mind that Breard did not benefit from the auction...her bankruptcy did, and the money raised will help pay off the creditors...pennys on the dollar compared to the amount she embezzled and the amount people lost.
