Secondary wore out? 08 M8

My buddy dropped his secondary off at the local cat dealer, needed the rollers replaced, and he wanted a new spring put in. A week later he has another bud pick it up, they said his clutch was wore out, and had the wrong helix in it. So they had a used secondary, off a 2011 F570? on hand they gave him. We put that secondary on, and once the bolt is tightened up, the clutch would not spin because it was bottomed out on the diamond drive. We ended up taking the rollers out of the used secondary, and putting them in the original secondary. The helix is the stock 36 the sled came with, granted, the specs call for a 44/40, but its not the "wrong" helix. After looking at both secondarys, I cant see anything that would wear so bad that the clutch would be worn out?

Don't know the answer but the parts fiche shows

driven clutch m8 726-274, f7 -295
36 degree m8 748-662 f7 -700
44 deg m8 -663 f7 -714

How many miles were on it?

common problem on the M series Skylar. the center hub bushing is usually the bad part. bdx, M&M in Michigan http://formulax-1.com/clutch-kits.php, and I think racinstation, will install the new hub/bushing for a more permanent fix. then you just need a set of bdx rock rollers, and a new spring, and you have a "new clutch"

the 36* helix is usually for the higher elevations but, it does work lower here too. as long as it isn't damaged the helix will be fine, and the dealer was probably looking at the chart, and it "should" have the the 40-44 for lower elevations but, it is far from the wrong helix. Ski

Ive found the multi angle helixs to work well on some sleds. If you would like to try a 44/40 I have 2-3 of them I would sell one to you its for a 07-08 with mechanical reverse. I can see part #'s tonight if your interested?

Interesting. His sled has about 4500 miles on it, maybe 5k. Thanks for the link bud! I appreciate it!

Thanks, I am pretty sure he has a 44/40 also, we never bothered to change it back when we got back from Tog last March.
