secondary clutch?

I have to swallow my pride and ask...how do you get the secondary apart to put a new spring in? It's a 05' rev. I can't see any retainers. Also, what would be the best spring to put in? I'm just trying to help a friend out and those doo's are put together a lot different than what I'm used too.

You have to press the helix down and then there is two keepers in a cupped shaped washer that come out. Then it should just come apart. I had to build a tool to press my helix, but you can buy them also. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nope...you are correct. I used a 12" lagbolt and some 1 1/2" washers and a 12" piece of 1" X 2" scrap wood with a hole drilled in the middle. Run the lag bolt with a washer on it thru the front of the secondary and then slide the piece of 1" X 2" wood over the bolt and then another washer and nut. Tighten it down until the heix is compressed enough to remove the 2 keepers. Once they are removed, loosen the nut on the lag bolt and it will come apart. A custom built $3 tool.

I can't tell you what spring but I can atleast ask the questions everyone will ask you! Motor work? Gearing? Track length? Primary setup? Riding style? Your weight? Probably too much but sure can't hurt. Holy crap! I can't even remember what spring I'm running right now!

Thanks for the info on getting this thing apart. As far as the spring goes I don't know his gearing but the sled has a 156x16 with 2 1/2" lugs. He is around 250 lbs. and mainly boondocks and small hill climbs. 8000 to 10,000 ft. He has a pipe, RKT head and piston kit in it. I would think he would be just short of 160 hp. The after-market suppliers I have looked at only handle 1 spring for the doo secondary and the ratings of them seem light to me. Last year he could not climb anything! The engine would just keep bogging down. It sounded like he was sucking the belt down into the clutch.

get ahold of dynamoe joe, hes the man, his setups are really nice on doo, and he prolly has some advice.

and for a tool, i took a peice of scrap steel and bent it into a u shape and put some threaded rod thru the center of the clutch bolted with a fat washer to the other side. then you can tighten it down to open up the secondary.
