secondary clutch loose?

I can move the secondary clutch in and out about a 1/4"-1/2" on the shaft on my '12 pro. The bolt is tight but the whole secondary moves.

My buddies '13 pro does the same thing but another buddy's 13 assault is tight.

anyone know anything about this? Is it normal?

Mine and the pro both move about the same amount.

Yes sir, this is normal and actually required on the Polaris sleds. They have what's referred to as a "floating" secondary. If the Assault you checked doesn't have "float" then I'd say he forgot some spacers or something when he removed it!

Thanks, kinda figured it must be normal. assault has never been apart before, only has about 500km on it. Seems wierd though, seems like it should have some sort of tension on it, rather than it just flopping around like that.

that is showing a max of .060" between the installed alignment tool and the front and rear of the secondary not the endplay on the shaft. Right?

Float is 0.060, also. Same as max offset. See point 4. bottom of page. You want float. It's there for both alignment, and to eliminate side bearing load. If you came off a doo, they are tight to the bearing OEM. Different, more expensive bearing. But, you can, and should, float a doo, too. It works. Been there...
