Second year xp warrenty???

my dad bought a 08 xp last year, brand new, and chose the second year warrenty instead of the 400 dollar in store credit. Last weekend we were riding and it all of a sudden was getting super loud so we stopped and looked at the exhaust.... It was fine except for when we looked a little closer. All except for 3 y pipe bolts were gone. So we took it to the ski doo dealer Monday thinking that would be under warrenty and they called my dad today and said it will be 157$!!! They said this is a common problem due to no lock washers. It isn't covered under warrenty c because It isn't a motor problem. The second year warrenty covers the case jugs head and internals. Nothing else no carb boots no clutch and no exhaust. Just wondering if this is something new or has it always been like this?

Always been that way Marc. All 800 doo motors have that problem of either no washers, or the bolts back out. It is a maintainance item after the initital first time, I have had 3 done, and it has been a waranty item, your dealer should only charge you the $50 deductable.

Heck with that i would do it my self, hey if they could not do it right the first time why trust them again. So thats how they got them so light?

Had the same thing happen to us in West Yellowstone 2 weekends ago. They actually snapped off in our xp, and I think he said they would have to pull the motor to tap and get them out.

Our dealer covered this completely, the mechanic saw it and first thing he did was cuss like a bandit, then tell us how mechanics should have 15 minutes-3 days with design engineers, and have them do a few warranty calls to fix such easy problems that tend to be so much work.

Didn't know they were dropping the amount of coverage each year in the warranty, anyone have a ink as to whats covered at the end of year three?

Every doo 800 since about 2000 that i have seen has had this problem, my 07was terrible for it, use nordlock washers and loctite. As far as warrenty your dealer should take care of that, i personally think 157 bones for that is bs. My bud just broke a bolt break in his primary on his 08 summit a few weeks ago, it wore away a bunch of metal which would have made the clutch unbalanced. He eneded up getting a complete new primary on warrenty.

Loctite

Thought there was a new type of loctite to be used on these bolts. Had them come loose on mine last year too and loctite that was used fixed the problem. You could just tighten them up a bit evry time you change a belt and then they would never have a chance to get very loose!! Yes, I'm a little bitter.

on the sublect.. i just paid 150 for a required first service.they said they check and tighten those bolts.
well i had to do it after i got the sled back.guess they forgot.****in ripoff dealers.

my dad called skidoo directly and they said it is warenty work and so he went to the dealer and the dealer didnot think he was telling the truth so they had to call them and finally settled on the 50 deductable.

SOME DEALERS :mad::mad::mad:

We complained to the dealer about having to rent a sle dwhen this one was down for warranty, our dealer told us to call Skidoo Customer service an they will reimburse? Any one hear this before???

On a side note, Moritz in Mandan, ND has been good to work with, they get us in right away for everything, no complaints, and always make sure we are happy with the outcome.... this is a good thing with the problems we have had with ours so far....

Attaboy, tol ya ;)

Tell yer Pa, I said hello. Hope you are having a good season, maybe we will see you this spring during Anthony Lakes ..... :D

$150 to replace 3 bolts? Are you frickin' kidding me?

Just last week, I ran across a guy I know stopped on the trail. His bolts had come out and he had to find other bolts on the sled to get going again.....He did it w/o the benefit of a shop and his good tools in about 20 minutes....Rip-off.......

Pos xp

I have an 08 snowcheck with the 154. The right outside of my track is getting torn apart bad. This is after the bumper bolts have been replaced. Any clue? I noticed this while I was trying to contain the oil pouring out of my chitty leaking oil bottle.

I had to rent for a week this year due to a warranty issue. I checked with BRP for reimbursement, no luck. I hoped my home owners insurance would cover it but that didn't happen either. End of the day, BRP only covered parts and I had to pay labor to fix and I have a $1200 rental bill. Could be worse I guess but still a bummer none the less.
