I have a rip at the front of my seat where it wraps around the hard plastic by the fuel tank. Any ideas to repair the rip without replacing the upholstry?

I had a rip on the side of my 93 EXT seat that I repaired with black automotive Goop. I stuck a piece of vinyl under the rip, gooped it up and held it together with duct tape till it dried. The rip never got worse or opened up again after the repair, amazing stuff!!
