Sealing KTM500XCW Airbox

Im needing to find a way to seal my air box. It totally open at the top making it very hard to seal. I've thought about just packing it with fuel cell foam. Any one have specific solutions?

I've got a 500XCW as well. I did was cut the bottom and part of the back off the airbox. I also took my stock filter screen and cut the snowfilter to fit tight on the screen and installed with some foam backing tape. No airbox sealing and mo problems what so ever in varied conditions. Snow just falls out of the airbox/off the filter.

silicone elbow and prefilter over a cage. sealing isnt the answer, if air can get in, so can snow. you just have to have a super free flowing setup with nothing around so snow CANNOT build up on the thing.

a few buddies of mine are using that foam tape for household uses around the door to the air box, and using screen door mesh on the cutout on the bottom, were not riding in arm deep snow tho.....

Cut out the bottom of the airbox and try it. New airbox is only $37 worst case if you dont like it or if you want uncut one for summer. But you need to let the snow fall out somehow. No collection point.

I can set that up for you and it will never be a issue again. Done a few of the 500 ktm now. I have a perfect pod filter kit and just cut out the air box. Quit messing around with piss poor bike setup and pay attention to what works!!

On my 08 XCRW I took the back half of the air box off. Put on filter sock and go riding. Powder doesn't bother it even if it does a little just reach around flick the sock snow falls off no problem. In the summer just reinstall that half of the box and ready for summer riding.

I have a KTM 500 EXC ... although I haven't been in trouble with snow yet, as I get more adventurious and more aggressive I can see how this will be a problem ... Pics please ... Might be a good addition for me
