Sealing airbox?

I

I noticed on the top portion of the airbox (the airbox on the hood side) that there is a long slim crack around the airbox that follows around the steering post.

I put a light in there and it looks like a lot of powder snow will get sucked in
there.
Has anyone sealed this up yet? or am I overly concerned?

Since it is brand new and under warranty... I'd take it back to the dealer and have it taken care of... otherwise, since it sees no UV... some good quality Gaffers tape (similar but better quality than duct tape... Gorilla tape for example) to seal up this seam.

Under the hood I'm not so worried about the powder snow though.

MH, The crack I was refering to is the factory split between those two pieces.

Not a (broken) type of crack.

I will be sealing mine..... I feel too much light powder will get sucked in there.

I know exactly the area you are talking about... that is why I recommend the tape. Seal it with the good gorilla tape... much better than the standard economy stuff....

Good luck.

How about windshield glue for cars and trucks. It stays rubbery and doesn't come off easily. It should seal that off easily . face-icon-small-hap

Can you post a pic of this area you speak of?

I've looked at my airbox but could not find the crack you were talking about. Could you please post the picture here? Thanks!

Sorry I have not setup the picture posting yet..... The best why to explain the gap that I am concerned about is..... When you remove your hood it is right there where the two torx 40 bolts hold the hood on.

I know the bolts will squeeze it together, but I feel that there is still too much gap for my liking.

gotcha! thanks for the clarification.

It seriously is the greatest stuff ever. One time we glued a Firestone bobbly head to the dash of this Buick we got for $500. When we went to sell it, the whole dash tried coming off... So it's still on the dash 4 years later...
