Maybe most guys have enclosed trailers or live at the base of the mountain but I do not. To keep my prefilter clean when trailering and to keep water out of my intake when the sled has to sit in the rain I have started using a "scrub bag."
Race car guys use them to keep water out of their air filters when power washing their cars or open trailering in the rain. It is a little better than the shopping sack and rubber bands I was using before.
I got mine from Outerwears. They did a good job but the downside is that you need to custom order it as they currently don't make scrub bags for cylindrical or conical bird cages. I think it was $20 or $25 including the custom order fee and shipping.
I ordered it in a high contrast color to help me remember to pull it off before I start the engine. Haven't forgoten to remove it yet...will probably just snuff the engine right after it fires if I do.
