Scratchers.... I see them on my skid but, do I need them?

I have scratchers on all my liquid cooled sleds to help kick a nice mist of snow up onto the heat exchangers. I do not have them on my fan cooled sleds because they have no heat exchangers.

However, I guess if the trail to and from the good riding is frozen and not providing much lube for the hifax, then maybe having scratchers is a good idea on snowbikes?

Do you guys use them or did you take them off?

I don't have any ice scratchers currently but I'm wanting to get a set on. I know of a few guys who have burned up the hyfax from lack of the snow in the track. I always drag a foot when I'm on the groomed trails headed to my play area trying to keep things cool but something that would do it for me is all the better. Just my opinion

I went through a set of hyfaxes last year, so I added scratchers this year. So far, so good.

Maybe this year with its marginal snow might be a good time to leave them on.

In the early season fluff, I could just leave them at home.

scratchers

I have needed them, especially since the ski evolution last year when I could finally ride in 5 gear on hard trails.

So far problem is , I put on spring ice scratcher, ride setup snow sidehilling, next time I look, scratchers gone. Tried cable scratchers, rubbed both off on sidehills or timber or scratcher trolls ripped them off as I went by.

so in another month I'll mount another one on the bike.

thinking though that one mounted on the back of the ski would be better.

I have been using a pair of fairly cheap spring scratchers and they have been great. Had them already so thought I would try them before buying a set of cable scratchers. Spring ones have worked so well, no reason to spend twice as much for the cable ones.
