Reading on the pro forum made me think I shouldn't even leave the garage , I went from thinking I had a state of the art and reliable machine to thinking it prolly is a ticking time bomb pos.

Maybe I'll sell it n just do some ice fishing instead..... sheesh...:face-icon-small-dis

I kinda chuckled when i heard the words "state of the art machine" and polaris sled at the same time. :face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-win As much as i love polaris, i learned many years ago never to buy first year stuff from polaris, as they have and always will let the public test their machines. Take the good with the bad. Anyone remember the 97 700 RMK. Now that was a great(1st year) sled out of the box. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. Got a couple buddies that have many hundreds of miles on there new pros and haven't had any issue so if you have snow go ride it, Unless the fishing is really good :face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

Dude, sack up and ride it like it's stolen.

Some do some don't it is the roll of the dice . If it is covered by a warranty run it like you stole it . If you do not have one than a piston kit is cheap insurance and they seem to run better after the kits.
There are 4 in are group 1-11 and 3-12 two of the 12s have had the engines replaced the 11 has been rebuilt and cylinders welded one of the 12's runs a turbo he tore it down and everything was perfect ( go figure) but to be on the safe side he went with the pms kit.
We have a couple more that up dated to the 13 pros this yr so we will see how they hold up.
I bitch about it but I can not see my self ridding anything else I just wish Poo would make a decent 160 hp engine that only need pistons after 2500 miles not a 130+ engine that need pistons after 1500 miles .
Keep a warranty on it and a good dealer behind you and pray for snow.

Heck if your scared to ride it out sledding, take it out ice fishing early in the year problem solve. Now its in the bottom of the lake and hopefully you had insurance and caught a couple fish. Just joking. I say put a rkt driveshaft fix it kit on and maybe a drop in kit or just ride it but i would say for sure the driveshaft clamp or what ever it is called. What kind of a budget do you have to do any mods to it?

If you did your research before you bought it, you knew it was not a reliable OEM machine. The very nature of its OEM design is destined to prematurely fail, even at its substandard HP rating. As long as you know that getting into it, you can take necessary steps to avoid disaster.

The 13 has a better crank and thicker skirts but still need aftermarket replacement pistons and the oil pump turned up

Buy the clamps and go riding I haven't heard of any failures with any of the clamps on them.Your only regret will be waiting.

Partial truth, I'm coming off an 04 firecat. Well known reputation ,great mill disintegrating chassis. Rode her hard, cost me nothing, maintenance tracks skis.
Picked up a 12 800 pro r last month ,and after reading these forums , I'm expecting to be tethered to that cat,s *** after the third ride. It Do take the fun out of it. But remember line workers and the lord don,t create all things equal , ride and maybe you'll get two seasons before she grenades, deal with it then.
