Gonna add some boost, but still undecided as to what kind...
Please give honest answers as to pros/cons of either setup. I am leaning towards SC because in my world throttle response is king, and lag is unacceptable. Sorry if this a dead horse beating for some:deadhorse:, but it's always good to get fresh commentary...

I ride SC Apex and have 2 buddies with SC and one Turbo. We think the SC works better in the tight stuff but the turbo makes more boost and more power. Any way you slice it.....boost creates perma-grins!:face-icon-small-hap

i love my alpine front mount! but one thing i didnt think of was the heat that sucker tosses off! keep an eye on your wires and hoses, yes i found out the hard way! i think it comes down to who can support u, if u can get parts or make a quick phone call, that makes it worth doing! dont matter what u have if u have to wait 2 weeks for parts, your going to hate your ride!

Sorry about the lack of mid mount option in the poll. I guess I was thinking anything from the fuel tank forward qualified as front mount.

mid mount turbo

mid mount turbo rocks! I have ridden lots of different turbo sleds but no sc ones. I rode my apex with the impulse kit for the first time today ! all i can say is holy f****** **** batman! on 15#. i have 2# rite when the clutch engages and the sled starts moving.

I would go front or mid mount. The lag is pretty minimal if any and they make better power than a S/C will. Put on a good vent kit, heat tape everything near the turbo and you'll be good to go.

having good luck with my impulse apex, i love it. i also reallyed liked my stage 1 MPI apex once i got it figured out. MCxpress builds a really good kit also. you running a Apex or Nytro?

Depends

Depends on what kind of riding you do. SC for playing in the trees and boondocking. Turbo for hillclimbing and general riding. I have had an Apex front mount alpine, Apex Stage II MPI and now Nytro with McXpress. Hill climbing I love the Nytro. But for in the trees nothing came close to the sc. Lots of heat problems with the Front mount but thats just my 02.

Supercharger has no lag and no we have a supercharger large enough to build big boost at high altitude. Fits under stock plastics and low heat now hacking up your sled.

Western rider where the hills are clutterd with tree's, Big but lots of obsticals. I luv my MPI stage 2 on nytro. The power is there when i need it (No waiting)and thats important to me. Turbo's do have longer legs but i think its important to choose on your area not simply HP #'s.

Cable, you need to ride Scott Seibolds Propane TNytro. It will give you an idea of the power. It is quick. Also, Scott from Diamond S is on the Mesa tonight through Sunday. Maybe hook up for a ride with Him. Mark and I will be up Saturday. Mark is in Denver and he may try and hook up Friday with Scott.

I'd love to go up and play Sam, but my sled still wont be ready in time...didn't know Scott aquired a propane turbo,...can't wait to ride it!

Cable, you are welcome to one of my sleds if you want. My little HCR could use a little riding. That is if you want to lower your standards. LOL. Let me know.

Ive seen scott s (diamond s) sleds run and have riden with him. His sleds haul azz and he can flat out ride!

I rode a SC stage2 nytro this past weekend which MAC had came out to cali and personally tuned, this is a 2008 and has had plenty of seat time in getting the bugs out (and there were a few!) hitting 16lbs on straight race. it pulled about like my 1200 watercraft polaris, which runs good but just wasnt that impressed with the overall power at this boost level, this is at about 6500-6700 feet or so.

this was after getting off my impulse apex which is still fairly fresh as far as install and tuning go, set at 12lbs on 91 octane pulling the same hill with wet heavy sierra cement pulling 80+ mph track speeds and 50+ mph ground speed!!!! (probably double what the SC nytro could pull)

Im not running down the SC, it would be fun in the trees, but my impulse apex 2860 comes out just as hard! I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE HAS TO SAY!!! and thats without hitting the stutter button which can hit 2+ lbs while sitting at a dead stop!

IMO, the advantage of a sc is the minimal heat. Other than that a turbo setup is the way to go. Lag is nearly non existent (On a good front or midmount setup) even with a 2860 which will push 300+ HP. If lag is really a concern drop back to a 2560 and still run up to 14-15 lbs with an extremely quick spooling turbocharger.

Fuel consumption is another consideration where the sc is less efficient.

Either or they will bring on some adrenaline like no other.

my 2560 spools quick! its also a front mount. pulls and hits way stronger then my buddies rear mounts.

Powderlites

Talk to Dave at Powderlites. I have an 09 Apex with a rear mount. 300 hp on 91 octane. Hits hard immediately, no lag. I know every SC guy out there will say Bull!#$^ but how do they know. I ride the first rear mount Apex Dave has built (December 09) so unless they have rode mine how would they know.
