Its still america people. I don't really care what they make and what they do with thier money. It is none of my business since I am not a member or own the club.

If you are pissed, you have 3 choices:
1) Don't go and don't donate.
2) Start your own event to compete.
3) Deal with it.

It is pretty arrogant to think that you have any say in how a club that you are not members of conducts thier financial affairs.

I agree nubulin, The costs involved with an event like this are staggering. The club I used to be a member of in MN has been trying to put on a grass drag and swap every year for 4 or 5 years now and has LOST money every time.

Next thing you know the Sno-Barrons will be the net skull and bones club the way the rumors and trumped up numbers are flying.

I am not a tax person but if you are interested in what their revenue is I believe they have to file a 990 if they make more than $25k. 990's are public record (If i am wrong about this please feel free to correct me).

If the members are making money off the event, then more power to them for coming up with an enterprising idea. However, if they are making money by exploiting the event under the guise of providing funds to the sport and then not providing them...that would be an issue for me. I would address that issue by not supporting the event.
