Say cheese

Got a question for you sleddin photographers, what camera's are you using?.I just picked up a Nikon coolpix and noticed the instructions say not to use the battery in ambient temps below 32 f. anyone else have problem with using camera in freezeing temps?. Or is this somehting I shouldn't be too worried about?. Thanks

I have a Sony DSC-H2, use 2450mAh NiMH batteries and they work fine.

Thing you gotta worry about is condensation more than ambient temperature.

I keep mine in a bag in my pack, and haven't had any power or condensation related problems with it yet. Even my old point-and-shoot camera worked fine, it'd fog up a bit when you drop it in the snow though.

I've got a couple year old Canon A540 point and shoot, keep it in my coat next to my body so it stays warm.Works fine for me.When it's really cold(0 or colder) or if I don't bring the coat in at night it doesn't want to work.
Next camera will be a waterproof one.

Costco also had an Olympus waterproof (10') shockproof, and coldweather protected for $200. I had wanted to stay closer to the $100 mark and thought the Nikon to be a better brand but......? maybe I should switch.

I have a Sony cybershot dsch9 and a p200 both seem to work well never had any trouble unless got a lot of moisture in them and the focusing froze. I keep them in my back pack or handle bar bag

I have the same Canon and it's worked great the first few trips...keep it in my riser bag.
