saw this in Avalanche and Survival just trying to spred the word!

I have tested mine (Ortovox 3+) against any electronics that I carry and have had no interference or crazy readings from my beacon, in search or transmit mode, and I've tested while searching for one of my other beacons. Maybe not all are created equal? Good info to know though

Sounds like some entertaining experimenting while waiting for powder. We also ride with FRS, GMRS, and standard 2-way radios. What happens if your mic is keyed up? I am a bit skeptical. You'd think there'd be warnings in the manuals.

So from what I've seen/experienced, a beacon in search mode will only act sporadically when within about foot of a cell phone. So, if you're buried less than a foot under with your cell phone on, when your buddy is doing the fine search, it will give him fits. But, if your beacon and phone are on your torso and it's buried only a foot under, odds are one of your limbs will be sticking out. So that means that your life isn't at risk if you have your phone on. But if I have my phone on and say, in my chest pocket, it sure as heck puts it close enough to mess with my beacon as I search for you. Your buddies are the ones who are at risk if you have your phone on.
