Sanity Check - '04 Summit X 800 144 Purchase??

Needing a second opinion on possible purchase. Here's the scoop:
-----This is a ready to ride unit with 1700 miles on it. Has electronic reverse, new 144"\x16x2" track, Bender can and Wiseco pistons. Has a 06 clutch (the best), gas can, shovel and av probes.-----
This guy is a retired machanic and changed the pistons at 700 mi as a precaution to the problematic factory ones.
$4000 firm price. It's below blu-book, but I wanted to see what others out there think before I take the plunge.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Make sure the nun isn't tweaked - both ski shocks should be centered in the a-arms and have a look under the pipe at the frame piece that the a-arms mount to (in front of the engine plate).

It's not a smoking good deal. it's worth about $3500 on trade at a dealer. in mn. i have an 04 151 x model that last saturday i was was hit on the trail head on buy a 15 year old kid. adjuster totaled it and said he would give me 5500 + tax and license. i was going to trade. for an 09 xp and the dealer said it was worth between 3500 - 4000 before all of this happened.

Sounds like a fair deal. Neither one of you is getting hurt. I just sold a 2002 Summit with 16 x151 and boss seat. 3000 miles. Near perfect condition for $3200

its a good deal for here in canada....all the 04 or 05 800 144's here are going for 7000 or more....

buy it...04 was really the first year but alot of people have them and they all run great...

Thanks gents. I'm picking it up today. It's in immaculate condition as this guy clearly takes care of his toys by looking around his shop. Last question, what's the HP on a stock 800?

I thought they typically pulled 133-138hp on a dyno.
