Mabey someone from California can help me
thanx

Rob,

You bringin that LS-1, Twin Turbo, 2 seater from your garage?

Those things make sledding look real inexpensive.

Those 2 seat hyabusa Drakarts were killin it at Glamis last year...I'd love to see one on boost!

Nope I've been contracted to pilot a new turbo Prowler around the dunes this year. I had visions of a turbo charged Razor with a track system but that ain't gonna happen. None of the powers that be love me from that camp! "Oh well dance with the one who brung ya!"

It's gonna be great...sounds like the boys nailed down 3 motorhome sites and the booth is 50ft long for maximum exposure. I'm thinking I might try to get organized and take my drag sled down for one final horah since I'm not so obligated to be in the booth. My buddy has a ferocious alcohol sand jeep dragster that he swears can beat me (he's too big of a WEANIE to bring it...he he hope he reads this somehow and gets motivated..cause I want to drive that bad boy!).

The 80 Gisel sand car is just the tip of the iceberg...you gotta have a $250,000 toter stacker combo to get it there and look snappy! We are the Clampits compared to some of those guys.

Hmm...

We've got a Beetle based rail sitting in the shop that has a decked out engine and schweet transaxle that my dad has been thinking about putting better suspension/chassis around.

Any suggestions for a long travel that could use any of the parts we currently have?

I personally think he should do a blown 8 liter vortec, but thats just me.

Supplicate the only way to build a true long travel car is to build a tube chassis around your bug body. Do some King coilovers and bypass shocks, put a turbo subaru and a Mendeola 2D trans and youd have a fun little runner.

I have rode in a lot of cars and built a few other name brands and Extreme Performance is top notch quality, handling, ease of maintance and the best customer service. I could go on and on but thats why I only build there chassis's.

Check out extremes site or go to my photo album and you can see a handfull of cars I have built.

I will pm you with some q's after I digest it a bit

I did notice some really big HP #'s that must be a fun ride

is it possible to buy the kit in a box and do all the welding and assembly yourself

What is the most comon eng used

whats the biggest eng you can put in a bug chassis

Snowstar, PM inbound. You might be getting some business from my dad since you're in Ogden and he's in Evanston.

Im sure someone makes a weldup kit but you would need a jig. But trust me its worth it to just buy a chassis all tabed out almost ready for powdercoating.

Engine choices depend on the type of car but is typicaly a GM LS series V8 (LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7) with hp ranging from 400 to 1200. I am currently building a car with a supercharged LS7 (thats a 427ci dry sump small block) with 1000hp. I'll post some pics of it when it gets in this week.

The bug chassis you can do any sort of big bore VW motor but anything is possible with an adapter plate and some fabrication.

Lots of builders make them they just dont advertise them cause there not so popular. Ive got a two seater build coming up in couple months that should be a sweet car, LS2, S4S trans and coilovers and bypass shocks on all four corners.

Heres a good example of a badass two seater. Its an Extreme Performance DTD II (double throw down).

The DTD II is a dual purpose car. Throw some dirt tires on it and your set. The last two seat mid engine I bid was about $85,000. Thats with a basic body package, side panels, roof, wing/trunk and radiator scoop. Power steering, LS2, S4S trans, bigger brakes, bigger front and rear hubs, bigger CV joints (934), 300M axles. A guy could get it cheaper if you down grade alot of stuff like motor, trans, hubs, brakes, steering and such, maybe around 70 to 75K.

Another good site to check out is dunebuggy.com lots of new and used buggies in there.
