Ok, so I know Wyoming started titling sleds here a few years ago, so do they collect sales tax on them too now? Basically if I buy a used sled (even from a different state) from a private party, do I need to figure on paying sales tax when I get the title transferred?

Yes it is just like a vehicle and when you get the title transferred they will have you pay it.

Iowa started titling sleds back in 2001/2002. Ive "Heard" that guys buy a new sled out of state and then only ride out of state and never "register" the sled in iowa, therefore never pay sales tax on it. Again, Just what ive "heard".

Not sure if that would work in your situation. Eric

I don't ever ride out of state...plus I think I'm going to have to finance part of it, which makes me think since the bank will need to hold the title that I'll be stuck with the sales tax anyways. :(

I've also "heard" of this happening but I'm not sure how a person sells it without eventually paying the sales tax so you can get a title to transfer ownership. Unless you're running it until it's scrap?

That's the easy part. when you buy a new sled from a dealer out of state you get a Certificate of Origin. All you do is keep that until you sell it. then sign it over to the new owner. That's what they take to get a title. Eric

Or trade it back into the dealer that's out of state so you can buy another one out of state and avoid the tax again.
