Safety parameters for the silber setup?

scubba
are you talking about the turbo oil pump ?
i would think it would lock up the shaft bearings in the turbo but thats all
it wouldn't kill the motor unless the turbo came apart right ?

let it snow

I think the pressure is only like a couple of PSI???

Are there Hobbs switches for that low of pressure?

.

Install a Hobbs switch if you're concerned.

Been there. Did that. Didn't work out that well..............

We used a 76071-3 Hobbs Honeywell pressure switch (1 - 3 PSI).

The Walbro pump would not produce enough flow with the 0W-40 oil to create enough pressure to reliably / consistently control the idiot light. Even with the switch adjusted to low end of it's span. IMO, this is due to the viscosity of the fluid being pumped. The FRA-4 was designed to pump fluids only as "thick" as diesel. The 1/8" ports are a bit of a giveaway that pumping engine oil maybe asking a bit much.

This is not to say that the Walbro isn't adequate for the job of lubricating the turbo over the "expected" useful life span of a snowmobile turbo kit. The use of the Walbro just makes it difficult to rig up any kind of simple / affordable warning system.

That said, I would have like to have tried the 0W-20 oil that is now on the market to see if that would've made enough improvement to flow & pressure in order to keep our switch tripped.
