My RX-1DOESNT IDLE SMOOTHLY.PUT GAS STABILIZER IN OFF SEASON AND THE YAMAHA DEALER SAID VARNISH BUILDUP IN CARBS/WILL COST ABOUT 300.00 TO CLEAN. DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT AND DOES ANYONE HAVE A REMEDY?

Pull the suction line off your gas tank and put it in a bottle of carb cleaner and let it suck about half of the bottle through. Then reconnect the lines to the gas tank and let it sit for an hour. Then fire it up and see if that helps. I've never had a problem with mine getting varnished before.
Should try balancing your carbs with a carb syncronizer. Had a problem with mine not idling smoothly did this and it idles perfectly. Info on this is availible from the dealer or email me and I can give you the info. There is an inexpensive guage availible through Royal Distributing in Ontario Canada.
Pull your carbs off and clen them. The pilots are the first to get plugged.
