Rx-1, booosted pros and cons

Dont let all the apex bs that they are that much lighter than a RX1. Sure they have shaved here/there. Still have a 4cylinder motor, starter, battery, etc. Its nothing that you cant do a RX1. I have a 03 TRX1, yes its heavy, but the boost overcomes the weight. So the saying is true, pigs do fly. The apex do start better, throttle response is alot better. But on the other hand, the Rx1 is going to be cheaper to buy. Its your money.

Front mounts are sometimes prone to under hood fires and susceptible to cracked headers. Not the easiest things to fix, I would much rather rebuild the top end of any two stroke than work on the congested engine quarters of a four stroke.

I wouldn,t let the wieght be an issue, if you look at the thread on sled wieghts you will see not much difference between the nytro and apex, and I have a nytro now but when I turboed my rx1 I had it at 610 lbs ready to ride I don,t see where the apex is any lighter than that. personally I liked the tuning better on carbs, mostly because thats what I am use to. and I never had an apex beat me out of the hole. so response is all in the tuning. cheaper to by and lighten an Rx1 than an apex. you can easily take 100lbs off the Rx1.

I have a RX1 turbo at 505 pounds no fuel but oil and coolant in.

There is almost no steel on the sled --- it took some doing--- it is also only 151" by 15" track, that is 20-30 pounds right there. And the LP turbo is 35 pounds lighter than stock where most other turbos actually ad weight.

It was a very unscientific weigh in with 3 bathroom scales but the little stock Phazer weight in at almost 530lb on the same set up almost empty of fuel.
So it should be in the ball park give or take a few pounds.

Nothing wrong with the RX1 and by now most RX1 turbo kits have all the bugs worked out of them.

that is a very light RX1 good job, mine was 535 dry, my ekholm suspension was 58lbs so if I would have had a timbersled I could have dropped another 20lbs. which would have put it under 600 wet. I don,t think I will ever get my nytro that light, not worth the money I will just turn up the boost.

rode w a fellow snowmobiler that has a turboed rx1, got to ride it 18 pds scary!and even watch it climb some scary stuff, i ride a apex and dont see a huge diiference, boosted metals is for sale and is in mint cond w tons of extras

The RX1 has a way better engine, Yamaha lightened up the Apex engine and took alot of the support out of the top of the cylinders. After time the cylinders bow out and require resleeving. Another + is not having to f*ck with a fuel control box, just jet and ride.

There are some killer deals on RX1 tbos that are done to the nines, check out the list of chit this sled has done to it, just as light as any Apex:
