Running Pump Gas in an IQR

Just been kicking around the idea of buying a 06 iqr and turning it into a pow sled. wondering if i decide to leave the 440 in it will it run on like 91 octane up in the high altitude or will i have to run low compression up there too. Also if it can be done is there a certain elevation that you can't go under? Is there a formula or something for this?
 
Above 8000 feet you are fine but if oyu go below 7 you will need some race gas.
 
a little follow up question to go with that answer. If i never went under 5k feet would running some octane boost give me enough points to keep it from detonation. I've heard mixed reviews on octane booster so just thought i would ask.

I wouldn't run the risk of relying on octane boost. Maybe look into the idea of a 50/50 mix with aviation fuel? Just a thought.:beer;
 
Just buy the pump gas head kit for the 440. I have an 05 IQ440 and changed the head kit and run 91-93 oct. with no problems at 1000 ft - 4500 ft. never had it above that elevation, but would assume there would not be any issues. Also the power diff. is really not noticable and worth it unless you can get race gas easily and cheap.


Not sure a 440 is going to make a good POW sled though.. Jumper = YES! POW = not so much.

i guess that was my biggest concern. if a 440 would have enough power on lower compression to run up in some of the higher altitudes.
