running board icing

Looking to spring order either a 2014 pro or xm, I am coming off of 12 pro, and had the chance to demo a 13 xm last weekend for 20 miles or so. Was curious if any of the 13 pros were have the running board icing issues that the 12 pros had? The boards alone will not be the deciding factor on which sled but any info would help.

Hmm, I have a '12 also and the boards definitely ice up. I have heard that the '13 boards are much better. Anyone confirm that? For about $300 and some elbow grease you can put the '13 boards on your '12. The '14 boards are the same as '13. They look fairly easy to take off and I will be be popping mine off ('14 snowcheck) and powdercoating them to hopefully improve the icing situation even more.

13's are a 100% improvment. One slide of the feet and 80% cleared. Only spot you need to kick snow off of is in the very rear (last 10") of the boards. I would say it way better than the XM.

Yeah, no problem with the -13 Running boards. Where i gotten snow is that very last piece in the back where the thin metal goes to the tunnel.

anyone have a fix for the snow on the last 10 inch yet ? the rest is great for me i love the feel and the grip from these boards,i also wrapped my tunnel i feel this helped with snow sticking to sides less as well, just need that last bit fixed up

the 13 boards are awesome. only area that gets build up in the back by the suspension mounts but all sleds do that if the snow is wet enough.

we make board inserts for the 12 that sell for $175 if youre looking for a cost effective alternative to the 13 boards.

Can that little metal piece be so important for the ridgety of the tunnel?
Probably its only to take some powertool saw and cut it off. But maby wait for the warranty to expire first.

I recently installed some 13 Pro takeoff running boards on my 12 and let me say they are well worth the time and effort to install.

Last month we rode in some deep powder at Halfway, Or. and I had no issues with snow build up while guys on the 12 Pros were commenting about how bad their running boards were.

The 13 boards also seem quite a bit stronger as I don't feel them flex at all compared to the 12 boards. I would highly recommend this upgrade.

I put the burant boards on my 12 and after 2 rides with them I can honestly say it was probably the best $250 I have spent on my sled. It is definitely better and not to difficult of a project.

So I took my '12 boards apart and am having the outer tube powdercoated. The powdercoat color code is RD01 - does that mean anything to you? Does it happen to be the same color you are using?

I like the looks of your inserts.
And yes now we have officially jacked this thread - sorry :focus:

13 boards

hey don't care what they say "they suck" but do look good in the showroom, That's about it. I'm looking at options maybe the brandt's. Found the xm's work much better but look like they would not, guess you never know till you put them thru the paces.

The 13 boards clear out very nicely and are MUCH more rigid than the 11/12 boards. Just wish I could keep the drop brackets and rear of tunnel free of build . up. Anyone have the wrap all the way back seen good results?

I'm having that done right now so we'll see. Has anyone tried coating them with Between The Lines Designs Surefoot Ice free product?
