running board buildup.

OK, I have board mods, but the footwells still get loaded badly, the rail on the outside turns into a huge ball of ice, the holes fill with ice......what gives, is there a spray, chant....anything that will make my fancy boards stay clear like my old mtn max's or wedges? seems like we are going backwards in technology here.

fwiw, I don't know what brand of snow go awayers I have, and frankly I don't think it matters the theory is good and the holes are huge. I am ready to whip up a pair of heat exchanges to mount on the bottom side of my foot wells to help keep them warm enough to stay clear.

Boondocker makes a 100watt resisor you can mount in the footwells. If yer stator can handle it. I bought 1 so I could take the hood off my m7. I mounted it on the reverse side of the footwell and noticed that particular footwell has no snow when the resistor is plugged in. You could always go crazy and put an after market tunnel inthat has heated running boards too...........

there is a product called slushbuster...google it for web page...apply cleaner then the wax...nothing will stick...

I used to have that problem.
F-bombs better boards cured it.
You still get snow, but a simple stomp and it's all gone.

i also use slush buster on the inside of my tunnel i get a 6" x15"x4 foot long chunk of ice in there if i dont use it. it makes a world of difference , i have better boards and for the most part my boards stay clear

I've got about a thousand hours of research, a few thousand in cash, and warn out keyboard looking for the answer to this problem. Thought it would be plastics (nope)...wondered if it would be chemical (nope wasn't)...read about and researched waxes (nope Google up your carnuba blends and do some time on processes that eventually led to ice tray coatings from the 60's...freezer racks....then on to telflon)...there is no absolute solution because the issue isn't related exactly to the metals alone.

Snow and ice build on snow and ice...any holding surface at all at a temp low enough to promote crystalization and you have build-up. You have to have an excessive heat or physical activity to remove. Answer became there is no absolute solution:mad: but there is a BETTER way! Big evacuation holes that limit holding zones, tall aggressive cleats so the foot force does press the snow through the evacuation holes instead of simply holding it, and the final high performance metal based hard surface coatings. Do all of that but DON"T YOU DARE SACREFICE STRENGTH...HECK YOU BETTER MAKE THEM SO THEY ENHANCE STRENGTH. THAT'S BETTER BOARDS AND THAT'S THE BEST YOU'LL DO!

Hey F-Bomb

On another thread you said something about plastic sales? I'm kinda interested in what that means. I work in an appliance warehouse. Kinda confused, maybe you can clear that up for me...

Better Boards on mine...and even on my 06 polaris do nothing less than perfect. My feet tend to ride up front on the tunnel so I guess I don't ever get the build up of ice or snow. Just my 2 cents!:beer;
