Rt1000 Info

I just purchased a RT1000 and am looking for any info that may help me get this new sled ready for the mountains as painless as I can. It is a 05 162 and I allready put the 2007 mid alltitude fuelmap on it, I unload sleds at 4000 ft. and climb to 9000 ft. I plan on installing a can. Anyone have experience with timbersled air intake kit? I will remove rear cooler for weight loss and rear light/luggage rack, I trimmed clutch cover and will install a few flo-rights. Where can I get a good clutch/gear setup? Has anyone tried to replace stock seat with a 07 XRS seat, I think it should fit? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Stick with your stock airboxes. You can gut the outer box, infact I believe doo has a kit to do this. Maybe H20SKE can chime in on this. Good runnability is better than dropping a couple lbs. Prescreen to help keep out the belt dust.
As far as clutching goes most guys swear by Dynamo Joes or Ski Doo has a high altitude kit for the RT that I think works well

Drop a tooth on your top sprocket (20 tooth for a 162)

I'd strongly rec a water temp gauge. Sometimes, these things will run too cool
Change your low pressure fuel pump (under engine) with a NAPA #E8012 instead of the 610-1050 (which is what doo updated to in 06 and it's JUNK)
remount it over on foot well next to battery. These pumps go bad all the time especially if you're the kind of guy who likes to run your tank on the low side.

I run dynamo Joes clutch kit and it works awesome...I am at 0-3000 ft tho...for Cans a TSS Can I find works awesome...no performance gain but not to many cans give you that...the can weighs 4.2 lbs compared to 23 which is the stock can....then yes gear down...you can go 20/49 or 19/49....and keep the stock chain...alot of people go 19 but at your alt im not sure if 19 or 20 would be better...diamonddave does know his stuff...and yes remove the rear cooler...for the seat mod this is what was done to my seat when I bought it...it only costed $150..as per previous owner...

other than that you seem to be on the right track...keep it up and im sure you will love this machine...

check and make sure the battery is 12.5v or more...these sleds run like crap without a good battery...also keep a few spare relays with you..you can get them at napa for cheaper than brp...not sure the part numbers

Stiff

Im not yet....but last week I hit something hard and broke a rail and ripped my track in two...the track was sucked up in between my drivers and the rails and wore my drivers down...

So I will be switching to 9T soon...

why??

I went to 9T last year after I hit a rock and bent my bulkhead / tunnel and was wondering where you were at w/ clutching if you had 9T.

No I'm still runnin 10's. I didn't really think that there was a need for 9 tooth considering already have a 2.5 track. And it's easier to change to a 19 tooth sprocket.
I've run the 19 tooth and actually will probably go back to it as I'm not into flying down the trails.

As stated above stay away from Timbersled Air Intake. I installed one on mine and leaked belt dust into motor and took lower rod bearing out. Hard to know for sure if that was culprit but I would not chance it. Plus 220 bucks is alot for some pods and a piece of aluminum. Good luck.

Thanks Guys

I Appreciate All The Info You Have Given Me. I Am Not Familar With The Tss Brand Can, Who Makes This Can And Where Would I Be Able To Purchase 1? I've Got 100 Miles On The Sled Now And Think I'll Like It As Much As My Triple Mod Summit After A Little Work. Thanks Again For All The Info.

hey so how many of you guys have your wheels mounted inside? i did mine and it makes bad noises when i really lay it over and im starting to notice my track is wearing fast on the outside edges. its still the stock 05 162 track. but when i put the wheels in the center the track was in mint condition. now after 300 miles the sides are showing wear. ive barely got 500 miles on the sled since i bought it last month. just wondering what you guys think or know about this.

you can buy the TSS can from a guy named I Dare Rene on Dootalk...

and as for the 2 wheel kits...I have had no problems, no noises and no wearing...

I dont know how you have it installed but you should not have any of that...

I have about 600 miles on my sled with the 2 wheel kit and no wearing at all showing on the track...

it sounds like a card on spokes. i rode it yesterday in what little snow we got from this last storm and i could hear it every time i laid it over. i think i might have to go back to the outside mounted setup. i dont want to snap a window rod or tear paddles off. that would suck.
