Ive got an 06 1000 every once in a while it will run like crap. Im going to install a tstat as soon as it comes in. But not 100% sure if thats going to fix my problem. It runs great most of the time. When I rode on friday it was losing top end when I was climbing in soft snow. Couldnt make it kept having to turn out. Thinking it was a fuel pump issue until tried a spot were it was packed down and the thing went like a rapped ape to the top. It ran great boondocking all day. Then on saturday it was warm that day. I was just playing around in a feild and the thing didnt have any top end again and ran like ****. It had ok bottom but the top end would fall on its face. After it would sit for 15 min or so would run great than go back to shtty again. Then sunday running down the trail jump off into the pow and 5' in damn thing wouldn't rev at all. It would just bog when you gave it more throttle for about 30 sec. Then it took off and never missed a beat the rest of the day riding in deep powder. The sled is all back to stock except it has a timber intake and 151 to a 163 and they installed a rear cooler on it. Im thinking of bypassing it but kinda makes me nervous. I dont want to burn it up. Im just not sure if its a fuel issue or its over cooling. What do you think?

I had an '05, deleted the rear cooler that was phased out for '06 and added a thermostat. It ran 25% on the temp gauge all day long. My understanding if I remember this correctly is that when they get too cool they go into warm-up fuel enrichment which would explain your bog. Is it leaving greasy stripes when it bogs?

From what I have read that is what its doing going into warm up. Which when I first start it I can smell how rich it runs. I never noticed any raw fuel or oil sludge. I am going to check plugs today and see what they look like.

OVER COOLING !!

Take the time to clean your Rave valves and get that T-stat installed. Then yank that rear cooler and throw it as far as you can.

You are descibing the RT's over cooling to a T ... I would also be sure to test your low pressure pump but I think your on the right track with the thermostat.

Oh and make sure your battery is up to snuff or they will have issues there too.

Ok so the Tstat still isnt here. But when is was going over the sled i noticed the ambient temp sensor was hanging down right next to the exhaust. So I am assuming that should help out a little. Just wondering if any one has a couple of pics of the coolers on the 05 or 06.
