RSI Backcountry handlebar pic and advice..

Hello everyone I have been shopping around for some new bar and riser combo and I really like the RSI Backcountry bend bars and would like some
advice and comment on whether you mountain riders and Rev tider like the 10 or 15 degree bars, or the straight bars??

What do you think is better the aluminum bars or Chromoly for if you have to roll the sled over, which bars do you think will bend first?

I have an X model summit with stock bars and RSI 10inch risers and would like to change to raised bars like around 2-3 inch bars with some RSI risers arond 8-9inch rise, I would like to stay with the 10 inch total rise or a inch or two taller, I also think the drop in the center of the bars would make it easier to see the tach on the dash maybe even more when setting, now I have to stand to see my tach and still have to lean a bit forward to see it, when setting Its hard to see with the handlebard bag and pad and mostly cause of the rise of the stock bars and rsi risers

please post pics of what you have and like, I do want the RSI bars

Thanks, Wildcard

Whadcha expect when powered by that highly tuned tq monster, just think when you 3 inches traction IF you can hang on they'll fold in half. Besides if ya can't polish it, it aint worth beans!

straight chromoly!! There not that expensive. I have bent lots of bars also and realized bending a cheap pair is better then bending a steering shaft.

Whats interesting is the stock XRS bars were the same weight as the RSI and the stock set has rolled countless times-Each ride! after 3 seasons and are still straight, They will get powder coated and put back on

Just got a great price from my dealer and ordered a set of 2011 and newer Summit X or Freeride aluminum raised bars for $53 no shipping can`t beat that...

will post pics when all installed

This is my RSI Bar Set-up.

8" Risers and PowerMadd Throttle Block and guards. Relocated switches and RER.
The bars got moved forward as soon as I put the set-up on it.

And the RaceBar in CF on my Cat. It's a Fly pad, but the bars are the same.(Fly/RSI)
9" Risers and a PowerMadd adaptor and CR Throttle Block with Acerbis guards.

Gauge problem is solved here.

Good luck my RSI bent first ride out when sled rolled in 3 feet powder,They are not strong and the finish was low quality and scratches very easy, Just black paint, I was very disappointed in the Quality

Mine lasted the season of rollovers, trees, and still straight. Sorry to hear about your luck.

Honestly spend the coin and get the carbon fiber ones. I have a set on each of my sleds and they go through beatings and come back every time. They won't bend ever and if it gets to the point where they snap you have more problems then the bars. Sets on eBay for $100

Byeatts - my guess is you got a bad bar, maybe wasn't heat treated properly (or they missed that one completely) as most will tell you the opposite.

OP - I cringe when I see all the Doo guys going to huge risers/bars; they think they need that to help muscle the sled over. NOT TRUE! Shorter rise setups give you MORE control and help initiate carving/sidehilling quicker. Need to learn quicker countersteer technique is all! I'm going shorter on my REV - anyone want to trade a 5" riser block for my 7"?

Have FUN!

Yep most go tooo high. You should have to bend slightly forward and down to reach for best results, As far as the bars you might be right these things bent in the deep first day out, going back to the stock XRS bar which were perfect after 4 years of countless rolling, The finish was so poor it would scratch with your finger nail. its just cheap spray paint.Hmmm .Would like to hear from RSI on this.. PS anyone looking for custom bend bars send me a PM.

well like in my last post I purchased from my dealer for a good price some 2011+ freeride alumunum bars for $53 good buy, I unfortunetely after installin them, I temporarily mounted them to my 10inch rsi risers and yes way to high,I actually traded a guy my 10inch ones for a pair of 7inch Fly riser to put me back to around 10inch like I was before,

problem is with the drop center or raised bars there is actuall No room for the RH heater controls along with mastercylinder and handguards so I had to made a bar that mount to the LH side of the steering post top (the T) and mounted the controls on that so I would have room for my mastercylinder and handguard mount problem solved there, I sold my stock 04 Summit Flat bars with the heated grips but I couldn`t get the outside turndown off and I tried everything so the grips and the throttle block wouldn`t come off so I left the throttle block on when I sold them other than the kill switch, so I went researching and searching for a new cooler throttle block I wanted one with seperat kill switch so I could rotate it forward etc but after a few trips to the they could not get anything from the XRS block and seperate kill switch assembly, couldn`t order it cause of number changer and also they couldn`t even order an XP block was way expensive also had a hardtime finding a aftermarket block assembly found some that said they excepted other flippers but didn`t list which ones or my year of sled so was confusing so I purchased a complete 06 stock setup on ebay for $50 shipped .

but I would still like to find an aftermarket throttle block I already have an XRS kill switch mount and a few killswitchs that are what I want but still want to find a cool seperate throttle block that comes with its own flipper or will acept a Rev flipper Any ideas or advice in this would be appreciated please post a link to where you got yours.

Reeb, like the one you have I see you have have it listed as a CR block what is the CR? which one is on your Rev? or anything you guys would suggest would be appreciated.

I will post pics of what I have when I recieve the risers and install them, I ordered the Freeride grips also

I am also putting my old 97 summit back together for a sled for my wife just need a 136 rear skid now, hope fully something newer than the S Chassis skid I would be interested in, I junked out a 91 mach 1 and using all the 617 engine and components for the engine and handlbars controls etc to get it back on the snow for her next season.

Thanks, Wildcard

CR Racing Billet Throttle Block

My Rev has the PowerMadd block on it, problem is that the throw is too much for the stock cable. I screwed with cable adjustment at the carb and still had to consciously be gentle on hammering the flipper into the bars.
CR Racing block for me this year will get it right.(Stock XRS/XP style never let me down when I had demo's every year. And the killswitch is a quarter rotation forward and you'll never hit it either)
Problem with the PowerMadd one is the adjustment holes don't quite work on a Doo.
I used a KTM killswitch(Moose makes an aftermarket one that is identical) and mounted it to the front of my bars. Way outta the way. And installing the rockerswitches was a piece of cake.

Also, people can say what they want about shorter risers, but it is COMPLETELY Personal Preference and frankly I HATED going two inches lower for a couple rides cause I had to order different bars(Wanted the Cat M-Series bar) but woulda had to change risers and I wasn't willing to do that.
So I rode with the stock flatbars and the 8" riser...Simply put, I couldn't ride the sled to it's potential as easily as I could with that extra 2" of rise.
Got even easier when I moved the bars forward.
Keep in mind my bars aren't sitting mid-chest either. But it is completely a style thing and the important part is to tailor your sled to 'your' style.

Too much money is spent every year by people going 'their buddies' route' instead of tailoring the sled to themselves.

Just make sure it's comfortable in all situations, and natural feeling. That's the best set-up barnone.
