RPMs and Oil

Ive been able to ride the 9 for a while now and its really coming along great, in large part due to you guys so thanks..Pics and vids to come.. I just have a few small issues that are standing in my way..
First being the RPM.. I read that the 05 motor makes all of its power between 7200-7400.. My setup is black/red spring, 719 helix, and derlin washers in the secondary.. Orange 165-310 spring, 77g mtx (3g in tip and 1g in center) and i am spinning it over at 8000.. i still have 2g to throw at it but are there any other ideas??
Secondly after a few rides i noticed that it seems to be drinking oil pretty heavily.. I know the oil cables are usually the cause but it doesnt seem to be running rich nor do the plugs show any sign of accesive oil.. I have to buy a set of FBF cables but is this normal or no??
Thanks Don

I would run a primary spring with a less final pressure. Maybe a 165-280 or so. And if you are using a lot of oil it is probly the cable. Mine was sticking about half way open almost all the time and it didnt show on the plugs at all. Good luck!:D:beer;

^^^^^^X2 on the cable. Mine was stuck wide open and needless to say, it did show on the plugs. It also smoked like an old Ford diesel.

My oiler cable stuck last year, not full open, but it wouldn't return any more than 1/4 open. It didn't show on plugs, but sure drank alot of ves gold!

Another somewhat common source of oil loss is the brass fitting on the case where the oil feed hose goes into the block. It's right between and below the throttle bodies. (on the end of the hose that is routed between the cyl's)

Cheers and merry xmas!

Well like i said, to bring your rpms down u can throw more weight at it or use a spring with less final pressure. Im doing the same thing with my sled. I was running 11-72 weights with a 160-300 spring. my engagement was too high and my peak rpm was high as well. I ordered a spring from epi, its a 145-280. 145 should bring my engagement down to where i want it and the 280 will bring my peak rpm down. where does your sled engage at?

right now the sled is coming in at about 4000.. even with the slp pipes i still want to be in that 7200-7400 range correct?

Yes, that is correct. It probly wouldnt hurt to peak around 7600 though with the slp pipe. The engagement seems to be right on so i wouldnt change the initial primary spring pressure but i would go with a lower final spring pressure. That will act as if you are adding weight, hence lowering your peak rpm.

X2 on 7600 rpm if your running SLP pipe set.
