Rpm target for 800 pro

So I adjusted the belt last night and i have it so the bottom part of the grooves are flush with the top of the secondary but the track isn't free spinning when off the ground. Should I keep adusting the belt further down until the track gets some movement? I thought it was more about the grooves being flush with the secondary.

My pro really woke up with a steeper angle helix. Load up your engine with clutching until it doesn't pull rpm. All those rpm's is just wasted power, you need to transfer that power to the track.
Rode with a guy who was turning 8450 with an 800 dragon, he thought it sounded "cool" and figured it was going good until he started hillclimbing and was soon disappointed! Often I see guys building up a motor with all these power adders but do little or no clutching. Gotta get all that power to the ground!:)

The motor lives the longest and makes good horsepower at the 8000-8100 range. Anything above that for extended periods is tough on engines according to my experience.

Turbo?

This is a great thread. I am assuming that with a turbo installed, this makes no difference on target RPMs.? I of course replaced my springs and weights, but I think I may be pulling more than 8200. I will check tomorrow, but pretty sure I saw just over 8200 last ride on the stats. I am fairly sure I put it on the lower RPM ramp of my dual helix and added heavier weights. If I want to load the motor what would I need do do heavier or lighter weights?

Scott, I have not heard of a breakin chip on the Pros? My dealer didn't say anything about it. Just curious because I'm getting close to 7 hours on sled and I'm getting my clutching dialed in, maybe I should wait till over 8 hours to make adjustments. Thx!

RPMs 800 Rmk

Have you had your tach ck ( could be off by 200/500 rpms old school) in deep snow I like to run on torque side of the engine ,77/7900 rpms to lite of weights can pull higher rpms to go no where ? After market vendors Sell HP ? PSI in the day sold HP , pipe, can, head, ect 15/20 HP for a pipe , 7/10 HP for a head ? Ect! Really! 25/30 HP bolt on ? For only $1500/$2000. Plus Clucthing kit ! Really ??

What elevation are you running at?

Well, honestly the 8050 was at Corona pass. I've been having to much fun at RE to actually look down and see what I'm pulling..

I should've looked down yesterday, even though about it, just never did ( =

So around 10.5k feet was where I was pulling the 8050 rpms under load

7950-8100 rpm's reguardless of alt. and you are there so long as clutches are not hot. Get those rpm's with both clutches about same temp and you will be all smiles.

the farther the belt is down in the secondary sheeves the less likely the track will move at idle(loose belt)starting in a higher gear and harder on belts.the higher the belt on the secondary sheeves more likely the track will move (tighter belt) to tight causes sled creep, sqeeky belt, low idle because sled is seeing load.with all that said you probably got yours right.
