Rolling a Nytro on it's side

Maybe I'm being over cautious, but I caught some rumors or something that a Nytro might leak some oil or something when rolled on it's side. I gotta install a float plate and was wondering is there a bad side to roll it on? I was just gonna throw some comforters down on the garage floor then roll it onto the oil pump side. Sound ok? Is there anything I should look for when I upright it? Thanks.

Rolled mine the other day and was nervous because people on here were talking about the oil leaking out. Could not find any leaks or oil coming out:confused:

I had mine on its side for about 10 minutes. The oil light went on when I started it. Turned it off then back on and it was fine.

I rolled mine on its side and very quickly shut off the engine and when I rolled it back over the oil light comes on, I've had this happen a couple times already but can't find a leak(oil light always goes away)

I wouldn't worry. As others have stated above. I rememeber the thread your thinking of and I belive the guy stated he had it buried on its side (or upside down) for 30+ minutes. Some damn thing like that.

Since the light goes away, it is not a problem of leak, just the oil is low in the reseviour and is someplace else. Bottom of engine, cylinder head, other? When sled is tipped right side up and ran, the reseviour fills back up to the regular amount.

Mine has only been on it's side when running...... But when that happens it pees out about a tablespoon of oil. Mabee a litttle less. No ill effects.:)

Got 8000K on my Apex and she's bin upside down . on either side and every other position you can thing of with no oil problems . I imagine the nytro will be the same..

With my Vector, I roll it on its side all the time, just like you'd with any other sled and have had no problems. In fact the one day I was with my dealer and asked him about it and he said it wouldn't hurt anything.

I seem to remember reading something on TY about the new Nytro that said it was only supposed to be rolled onto one side and not the other. They said it was in the owners manual but I haven't checked into it.

Some Nytros (including mine) were slightly overfilled with oil from the factory and blowing some into the airbox. I intially thought I had an oil leak as I found a puddle of oil under the sled and discovered the front of the motor being covered. This oil all came from the airbox and dripped down. My dealer's son's Nytro had the same thing happen.

The only issue would be if the unit got an air bubble in the oil pump
When you tip it, shut it off ASAP and then when you get it back upright (in an ideal world) the oil tank is upwards from the engine so if there were to be a bubble it would go uphill back into the oil tank
I think it would have to be nearly upside down to the right side for an air bubble to get into the delivery hose

They DO leak oil and it's when they're on there right side. I've lost as much as 12 oz. It makes a horrible mess and gets on everything. Just be sure to shut it off as fast as you possibly can if you get it stuck on the right side.

I've had mine stuck laying on both sides for short periods...no leaks. The only time I had an issue was rolling it off the bottom side of a road:D It sat on its lid for 5 or 6 minutes. Once I got it dug out and on its track again I had to pull the clutch side cover and manually rotate the engine through a couple compression strokes before it would even turn over since the cylinders were full of oil. Once I hit the key after I turned it over by hand it fired right up. I was very suprised that it didn't foul the plugs...all it did is pump out a little blue smoke for a bit and then was good to go. The part that really amazed me is that no oil showed up in my airbox:D

remember that your oil tank vent goes into the air box so just because you dont see a leak dosent mean it didnt leak its just setting in the air box. But it is normall for the light to come on when you restart the engine as long as it goes out after a few seconds. I have had mine come on when I got stuck on a hill but if you remove the level sensor form the tank that you have to do to check your oil level yu will see that it doesnt take much for the light to come on. and there is still plentty of oil in the tank

I have also noticed that when I see the low oil light on, I shut the engine down and restart it, that resets it and gives me an honest look. If it stays on, then you've lost enough oil to set it off while upright....it always goes off on restart, though.
