Roll out drawer under sled deck?

Anyone done this? An 8' deck on a 6.5' bed makes it difficult to get stuff out of the bed without crawling in there.

Looking for something like this

Just wondering my pros/cons I might not have considered. Any one build their own?

The Truck Boss units are very nice....and my friend has a bedslide in his F450.

Highway Products also makes really nice truckslides in aluminum... Oregon based.
They have different models from 2000 - 4000 lbs capacity

You will probably want to invest in some good totes to put in there to protect from the weather... The truckboss deck is sealed to keep the weather out of the bed below the deck.....whereas many other decks are not.

I have a Bedslide. I also have a 8' deck on 6.5' bed. I can't imagine not having one. Spelunking under the deck sucks.

Mine is six years old now and still works like new. The construction is solid. Having it latch in place every ~18" is key when you're using it on a hill.

Cons? The paint could have been a bit better, they've probably improved since. The 'tie-down points' that came with mine were plastic and a joke. You do lose some capacity due to the height of the slide.

The one change I did was extending the sides to 10" tall. I found that sometimes gear would shift while driving and the next time you pulled the bedslide out, something would fall behind it and stop it from closing.

I built one out of 3/8" plywood. I got a bunch of rollers from Harbor Freight - http://www.harborfreight.com/1-inch-roller-ball-bearing-67060.html - screwed those to a chunk of 1/2" plywood that fits on the floor of the bed, inside the deck legs, then built a box. I have an 8' bed, the box is ~6.5' or so - gives me space between the tailgate and front of the drawer. It works well. I underbuilt the drawer itself - walls are about a foot tall, left side has two long compartments for skis, right side is just a big drawer. It is getting kinda floppy; I should have built it a little sturdier, but it still works great, did not cost much, and even when the drawer is full of heavy stuff, it rolls in/out pretty easily. I put the infrequently-used stuff at the front of the box, easy enough to get it if needed, but I only have to pull it about halfway out to get everything.

Plastic boxes would be good for keeping stuff dry/clean, although it really is not TOO bad. I'd not spend real $$ on one - the wood box has lasted a few seasons already, it'll last a few more, works well, shrug, yeah. Easy enough to make (took an afternoon), works well, no more spelunking!

I put all my stuff in totes under the deck and made a large "hook" out of a chunk of 1/2" EMT. Works like a charm and cost was under $50. I'd love a slide but then you lose even more precious vertical space.

Never attempted but I always thought maybe overhead garage door tracks and wheels?

I like the concept but wouldn't the track need to extend out past the bed for the wheels to roll on?

I was thinking run the track the length of the bed but place the wheels in 2 spots, closest to the cab and half way to the cab. This wouldn't allow a full slide out but I was thinking it would be enough to reach items.
