Rode the "Blowies"..............

Yesterday, Bushmaster, my buddy Brian and myself rode the Snowies out of Centennial. Bloody freezin' cold, blowin' like hell............so, a pretty good day @ the Blowies.

Snow depths are average at best. Need much more though. Many thin, windblown areas, backside by the warming hut was a bit better and we had a little fun boondockin' in the trees where is was pretty deep but still not "point and shoot anywhere" deep.

I believe Paul took a couple pics...........maybe he'll post a few.

Hey Catman 1200............sorry we didn't connect. We were an hour later than expected due to the wind.

Ride safe all, always sad news when we lose member(s) of our riding "family".

Hell - sometimes just the drive up there alone from Colorado towing an enclosed trailer is a hoot with the wind they get. Always a good time at SR.

PICS???!!

;-)

One of the main reasons I do not ride that area very often is the ridiculous wind.

You could drive blue skies all the way to the parking lot and then you hit the wall of wind know as the Blowies! If you do hit it right it can be epic though, just got tired of rolling the dice.

The wind did blow!

That was a windy mo-fo yesterday:face-icon-small-dis Don't think it got above 10 degrees. Thanks Q for guiding us and keeping us off the rocks:face-icon-small-ton and to Brian for driving through that wind tunnel. Nice job! Wind was always slammin right into the side of that big alum enclosed. It was a great ride for what I wanted to do :D...nice and easy, no carnage, another tank of fuel through the new top-end and no mishaps. Snow was fine on lee slopes and in the woods but beat to death on windward aspects. Not the best day for pics...lugged the vid cam around all day and never broke it out either. Here's a few of a nice deep slope we played on.

Brian (a relative newb) and one of the trial by fire lessons of the day.

Not stuck yet...

Thanks Paul for taking and posting the few pictures we had. Next time I'll bring my camera and video and hopefully get a few more to share.

Good day.......rough weather at times

Got a few more on photo bucket under brushcrasher, but those there are the only "action" shots i took. lol You were rippin it up pretty good with the Swerx M1K on lake marie, but my digits were pretty numb and I didn't get around to snapping any. Your sled is rippin good, that power claw digs (and throws chunks!) and you made those hills look like a trail ride. Of course, as hammered as they are, they are kinda like a trail ride:face-icon-small-ton J/K, you MADE them look easy. I'd have had to hold er to the bar for longer than I cared too. I'm a little squeak shy nowdays.

Downloaded and reviewed my EGT data and was happy to see everything looked good all day. Top end is cool as a cucumber, never got over 1150, and can probably crisp it up some down the road. Mid-range was flirting with 1240 but that's normal and just the nature of the motor. Bottom end was burbling all day, til I pulled a few points away and then she cleaned up. Before long, I'll have a fuel map for every set of conditions those finicky twins run into. Couple more tanks of gas and I'll start to feel more comfortable. Last year was blur of burndowns and re-builds that really sucked:face-icon-small-dis

To bad Catman1200 didn't show up...though there was a turbo yammy stuck near the top where you blew over at 30 mph :face-icon-small-con:confused:

Thanks for the great guidework all day Qreiff. For being fairly new to mountain riding, I couldn't ask for anyone better to follow around all day. Next time I'll stick that hill! Thanks for posting the picks Bushmaster. Great riding with you.

Next ride up there, I'll opt for the passengers seat.

Update 12/31

Rode yesterday for 1/2 day with Cain (Snowpsycho) and granted I will always be smiling under my helmet when I ride because I like snowmobiling that much BUT...............

1. The wind has not stopped in God knows how long.
2. No new snow
3. Lots of riders

Sum= packed out and thin snow to boot.

Hopefully ma ma nature will loosen the grip and drop a few feet........minus the 70+mph wind!!

Pretty rough conditions that I cannot suggest.
