rode Rollins pass 3-16-09

don't bother unless you like riding on lots of rocks, very little snow, made it to yankee doodle lake and still very thin and not really worth the effort. there were probably 6 or 7 sections of bare trail at least 100 yards long each on the way up...all the cable fences at Y doodle were about completely exposed

Man, why did you go to Rollins? I've ridden there a few times in my past....
In snowshoes, you could make it all the way to Winter Park. drifts in pretty heavy.

ouch!

i could have saved you some carbide wear. winter hasn't showed up in gilco yet. haven't left the house once for a front range ride. we need some white or i will be updating the household wildfire evacuation plan this spring.

ping me next time and i will give you an update before you go...

I tried it a few weekends ago, some dudes were unloading ATVs...
tried mammoth gulch first and rode maybe 150yd. Then to east portal, got about 2 miles in and sheared a trailing arm bolt on the way through the rocks - sweet! Not a damn bit of snow made it over the divide this year...

allright...2-16-09......we were supposed to ride GL but my crew couldn't get out of bed earlier enough to make the drive so I tried to salvage a late start, i suspected it would be thin, we started riding about 3pm.....I could look down on the mammoth gulch road across the valley and it seemed to have even less coverage....... be some dry wells this summer.
