Looking at posibly moving there.
What kind of riding areas are around there ?
How far do you have to travel?
Lived in Montana most of my life,am I going to be disipointed?

Well, it's probably 100 mi to sled anywhere. Tons of people from here do it. There is sledding near Kemmerer, Pinedale, South Pass, Uintas, etc, all 100+ miles.
If your asking about the town itself, there aren't any trees to speak of, the wind blows ALOT, there are a lot of jobs in the Jonah Field (again out a ways) because of the boom, and because of the boom rent/housing is riduculous. Go go Rocketminer.com and you can see the classifieds Tues-Sat. We have a great community college and more restaurants and stores than we've ever had (due to the boom) however they are having a hard time finding people to work those kinds of jobs.
I'm the secretary for the snowmobile club here if your interested. We have a great group of core people that ride together alot. We have all kinds of riders and we accomodate them all on our trips. If you'd like more info please email me!
Good luck!

Yes, coming from MT to RS, u will probably be dissapointed. Assuming u live in the mts. anyway. RS is desert country. The riding north of RS is going to be the best. We are 2 hrs away from it, but it is some of the best in Wy.. What are u going to do down here?

Lander

Hey Bro...
I live in Lander, Wy........I have a brother that lives at the Rock (Rocksprings)
And is moving to Lander,The god thing about the Rock is that their is a few more places to eat than Lander......But no trees just Desert.......
Lander is a Great place to live and close to some riding areas and about 1.5 hours from good riding Togwotte......
Anyways good Luck to where you move..

yup it's a chithole, but it is my chithole.......

I moved from Montana to RS, was in awe, well uh what can I say. I was a bit taken back till I bought a dirtbike for the summer and a sled for the Winter. All BLM land around here and you can go anywhere you want in the desert. Fishing is fantastic in lakes and Green River. Lots of riding in every direction and yes it is 100+ miles to any of them. Good part is you can pick and choose as the storms pass. You can ride Utah the day the snowies are getting punded and head there the next day. Always a place to find powder.

As far as RS, it has a lot of new infastructure, lot of building going on, house prices have dropped a bit in the last year so not as bad as it was. Not the nicest place but have lived in worse, ever been to ND in Feb, geez.........

PM me if you head down here we could meet up for coffee.

The drive to sled is nothing new to me. I have to drive 100 miles now for good riding and 17 miles of it is dirt. All of the diversity within a short distace is very interesting.
I'm used to driving to do things Montana is a very large State. Where I hunt is 200 plus miles from where I live.We drive 60+ miles 1 way to do any real shopping.I put 20,000 pluss miles on my truck every year the wifes car gets at least 15,000,I have no clue how many the bike gets(no odo).Driving does not bother me.
All of the public land is very interesting,I love to 4x4 in the summer and it looks like youcould do that forever and never touch the same track twice.
