Just received from Rocks Nephew:

Hello fellow Doug Tulloch fans,

Doug (a.k.a Uncle Doug, Rockstar) went into surgery just before noon today. He spent over 3 hours on the operating table and the Surgeon said that he did really well. He is now comfortable in his room. He hopes to be home by Saturday where he can update you all with the details himself.

Thank you for all of your well wishes,

Chris Tulloch

P.S-I just talked to him and he says send Half Moons!

Had it on my calendar but didn't look at it today. I feel bad for not remembering.

Guess I better stop by with a Crown.:D:beer;

I really hope this works out for you Doug.

Kim had talked to Rocks surgeon after the surgery, he said that they did not have to fuse anything together, just decompressed the nerves. that is terriffic news! I know Doug did not want to have anything fused...

Get well soon buddy!!

He's texting and in good spirits.....nice to see! :) Of course, he's a positive sort of person, and a great guy!! Sure do miss him being around. :(

Glad he didn't have any fusion. Hope he heals well and gets back to maybe one day riding agian.

Just received a call from Rock

Doug says he's doing great!! Less pain then he's been in all year.

Dr. cleaned up old scar tissue and widened the channel the nerves pass through to reduce the pressure on them.

Hopes to go home tomorrow and be on his feet shortly.

Still doesn't see sledding this year but next is looking pretty good right now.

Wished him the best from all of us.

Rich

thanks all - I'm Baaaaaaack

hello gang. wow! now THAT was fun. NOT! at least it seems to have worked at first blush. The massive pain that kept me from standing or walking is gone. The numbness is worse from the nerves being touched and the future is another surgery when I decline again... I'll take that for now.

The big news to me is that the drs said I can ride again next winter. differently but I can get out with my friends. I suppose conceding to age a bit. So, I sit out the winter recovering and look forward to being on the snow again next year. If I just watch others ride and have a Duner Dog on the hill I'll be happy now. For me it'snow about fresh air and friends. Maybe I can buy a 600 shorty and be good with that. we'll see.

So many of my friends come from this sport and from here. I have had so much support that I can never say enough what that means to me. Thank you very much.

There you are!! :lips: Good to see you.......well, hear you........ummm.......see your words. ;) :)

You don't need to be climbing big hills to have fun! I have yet to taste one of those Duner Dogs.....maybe someday. You all have talked about them for years.....made me actually want to have a hotdog. :face-icon-small-blu

Now I can look forward to riding with someone who rides like me:D
Good news RS.

good to hear Doug!! I got a Duner Dog just for you!!

Catwoman, I am heading your way next summer for a camping trip, we want to pull the trailer up, camp for a week and explore Glacier, you will have to let me know what camp you run... what is the best time of the year to come up?

Glad to see he did not have to do any Chemo...that chit will make your hair fall out...um, nevermind:cool:

Hey Rock! Not sure of the exact procedure you had done, but it sounds exactly like what my dad had done earlier this year.......he had terrible back pain and it got to a point where he couldn't even walk into the store cause he may feel ok going in and then lose all feeling and go numb in his legs and be afraid he wouldn't make it back out. My dad is an avid runner and runs 3-4 miles several times a week and couldn't any longer.
Doctors went in and found that the bone and such in his lower back was all grown in around his nerves and pinching them off and some other stuff going on. Anyway they cut it all out and cleaned it up and now 8 months later he is back running again and says his back feels better now than it has in the last 15 years........

Hopefully yours turns out the same. He has been night and day since his surgery. However he is limited now on the amount of lifting, heavy work, and strenuous activity on his back. Just make sure someone else helps or digs your sled out for you and hopefully all will be well next year.:D

I saw Doug for a few today. He is, understandably, a hurting unit, but even walked to and answered the door! Time will tell how this procedure works for him, but I am pretty confident it will be much better than a fusion at this point, and a great deal better than it has been for too long. He is already standing taller. Riding again???? Who knows? Likely not this year!
