not to take away from his glory, but I think every expert freestyle rider out there could have easily done this, and here is my reasoning.
he had weeks to practice and rehearse for this jump, they built the ramps elsewhere and that where he practiced doing the jump, then just took the built ramps to the strip and performed the stunt in front of the cameras.
As far as the size of the jump, they just took the height of the Arc De Triumph and use some simple physics formulas to calculate the minimum speed he would need to jump up 90 feet in the air, using the ramp height and pitch as the constants.
the drop in is just luck, just like a skate border dropping in a huge half pipe.
I'm just saying Im not really that impressed by what he did, I just think its too easy to calculate the limits and know what you can and cant do. I really would have been impressed if somebody just showed up and built a ramp and jumped on top of the sucker!
Nevertheless, I would never do that, and it was pretty cool to see, but the media likes to get a lot of attention if you know what I mean.
i thought his stunt last year was way more crazy.
