Roady's Humanitarian Bowl

OK it looks like Boise wants the sun and fun in Hawaii, Playing Georgia in the Sugar bowlso Fresno State gets to go to Boise and Play in the Rain and snow of the Roady's Humanitarian bowl! Thats fine, no complaints here the Boise fans will support us and the WAC.

Can someone answer me just one question, what is Roady's?

A TRUCK stop is sponsoring a Bowl game? man not to sound ungrateful but a friggin truck stop? come on man at least make it a Hooters or something!

Yep, gotta love these Corporate sponsors! Chit, there are so many "BOWLS" out there, that any team that can score at least 1 touchdown a game can get an invite to a "BOWL"!

Maybe the SnoWest forums can host a bowl next year! They can call it the SnoWest Champagne Powder Bowl! As long as the NCAA is letting corporate sponsors take over just to rake in more advertising money!

You bet and the local press made a big deal out of it last year when it changed.

The game was sponsored by Micron Technology, an Idaho-based manufacturer, from 1999 to 2002 under the name Crucial.com, which sells computer memory upgrades from Micron. The bowl game then briefly had no sponsor for the January 2004 game. In December of 2004, the name was changed to the MPC Computers Bowl. MPC Computers was formerly MicronPC, the computer manufacturing division of Micron, but splint from Micron and has no affiliation with Micron. In April 2007, it was announced that the bowl will again be called the Humanitarian Bowl. [1] In May 2007, a new bowl sponsor was announced. The bowl's name is now the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl. [2]

It is the longest running cold weather bowl game currently in operation. The payout is $750,000, but teams are required to provide a corporate sponsor, purchase a minimum number of tickets, and stay at a selected hotel for a minimum stay. Because of this, 7-4 UCLA declined an invitation to the Humanitarian Bowl in 2001.

Hey 49,

Wasn't it yo that was bashing on Boise State and saying how you hated us? now you want our support?

Seems a little 2-faced doesn't it?

I will support Fresno and probably even go to the game, but I sure hope the team and their other fans have more class than that.

NEVER NOT ONCE!,

You might want to check that comment at the door big guy! I actually have much respect for your Boise team and did nothing but praise the Boise program! Boise rules the WAC, and if it wasn't for a 2005 win by the Bulldogs, Boise would be undefeated in the WAC! you really should re-read the thread

Too not remember the thread and call me 2-faced and not having class? WTF that is un-called for! I do not think there is a single person on this forum I have ever bashed since I have joined!

What I actually was commenting on(bashing) in that thread was the Blue field, because it very hard to get a good picture on my TV:D

Mtn_ Extreme

I guess I got a too defensive, but I went back and reread the thread
in the old forum

and you must of forgot what you sent me after the game? you're quote

"niner49,

Your boys played a helluva game. Get some size on them and a little more experience and you will go places.

We have a pretty tuff schedule to finish out with , Hawaii on there turf for one. Were a young team as well with freshmen stepping up to the plate. Should be some good games ahead.

Go Boise State!!!! "

It was nothing but respect?

49,

My apologies if it was not you! Someone from the area had made that comment and it just didn't set well with me as were all in the same conference and should be supporting each other. However if you will notice, my last post was in the form of a question and not directly accusing you.

I am cheering for Hawaii to win the sugar bowl and will support Fresno here as any WAC victory does nothing but help all of us!

Sorry if you took it personal,
MX

No worries, I just did not want anyone thinking I bashed Boise! that $700k check last year courtesy of your boys was appreciated:D and thanks to Hawaii we will be getting another one this year!

The WAC gets $17 Million for the BCS bowl appearance The other WAC teams get about $2.1 mil (Hawaii gets around $4.3mil) and the teams will actually net about $700k after the school gets there cut!

which brings up an interesting point.
Why wouldnt conferences cheat and allow each team to take a turn going undefeated to reach the BCS? after several years the programs each have a ton of money and could start to play real football again... The games would still be competitive but making sure the designated team won...

Great Idea phatty, but your out of conference schedule would prevent that from ever happening, or at least it should!

My question is still why is it that every other college sport (baseball, tennis, softball, basketball....) uses a ranking system like the BCS but still only declares a "Champion" after a playoff or tournament?

Money, Money ,Money!
