Roads closed to jackson

Left at 6am this morning. Highway 26 is closed at Ririe due to blowing and drifting snow. Talked to ITD and they said 1pm best case scenario. Then drove through the burg to newdale Highway 33. Its closed also. ITD said they will need a rotary to clear it once the wind stops. SO i went back to Ririe for an update and nothing changed. So I am back in I.F.

I feel bad for #220 700 Mod class. He is sitting in Ririe trying to get to the hill with his sled in the back of his truck. Doubt he will get to make his run!!

lmao!

dont those sleds only have like 3/4 gallons tanks?

Still funny though Hawk!

Just got off the phone with ITD and Highway 26 best case scenario will open at 3pm. Highway 33 closed for the remainder of the day.

Anybody have a little plane they want to charter out to get my but to Jackson from Idaho Falls??

Don't feel too bad. I was actually just trying to get to Alpine to hook up with some buds for a ride. Didn't qualify for Jackson this year, but you can bet if I did I would have been there long before this morning. ;) Still sucks to sit there 2 1/2 hours waiting to ride and then just turn around and go home. Highway through Soda/Afton is open so we will be heading that way in the morning for finals. Later

A few years back was riding out of Dubois for a week and drove over to Jackson to watch the hillclimbs for a day. Had to go down to I-80 and back to Rawlins to get back to Dubois when all the passes got shut down.
Boy was that a pain!

I headed over to the hill around 2 pm and after 2 days of racing the ruts and the same bigazz rock in the middle of the road near the top was kicking the crap out of alot of riders today. Action at the top was spectacular as always with some awesome carnage. I only hung around for a few hours and couldn't tell you who made tomorrows finals and who didn't.

The choice has been pretty simple for me... with 2 feet of fresh powder up in the hills why in the heck do i want to hang around and watch someone else ride a snowmobile.

Same here.....I went to "Jackson" and rode Alpine Friday, Saturday, and Sunday :D The snow was unreal.........It was more like January than the end of March. The forecast is calling for more also!!!!!

Just wondering if you knew the "same bigazz rock" was actually pried loose from the mountain a few summers ago and rolled down to tower 4 or 5 IIRC and mashed the hell out of said tower. We were called in to inspect said tower and make sure it still had enough integrity to weld a scab patch over top of and keep running it.

The reason they knew it was the "same bigazz rock" is it was the one with all the gouges from studs ;) and they knew exactly where it was pried out from the mountain.

Sheriff figured it was some pizzed off sledder that hiked up there to get rid of said rock. It would have been interesting to see the carnage if it would have made it all the way down the hill and how many people it would have killed. IIRC they now have it sitting in the lift maint. shop. Or did for a while anyway as evidence.

The one they hit now is just the one that was behind the "same bigazz rock."

:p

Just felt like razzin ya a bit.
