Road trippin to KF

Making a road trip to Klamity Flats (aka Klamath Falls) with some friends this coming weekend and would like some advice for riding the area. I grew up down there and just need to remember some of the trails. And what would be good for family with kids to ride. Also need some entertainment for the big boys... :D

It's been awhile but I do recall riding up to Surveyor and there's a gravel pit near the top that had some good climbing and some whoops for the kids. Also down around Door Knob and Medicine Lake area. We never really did much riding around Lake of the Woods other than the big meadow on 140. Is that area worth hitting?

One of the points we intend to hit is Crater Lake and while we are there to do some riding around Diamond Lake. Any advice for some fun riding around there?

I saw in a earlier thread a mention of riding Stukel. Is that for real? I don't recall there ever being much snow on Stukel.

Crater Lake is only accessable from the Diamond Lake side, and you can only ride on the road from the North Entrance to Crater Lake. Awesome view once you get there. Diamond Lake area has a lot of groomed trails, but it gets used a lot; if the snow is soft, the trails will be really poor unless you are following the groomer.

Lake of the Woods to Pelican via Cold Springs trail is a nice ride, if the trail has been groomed. LOW to Brown Mountain via the Resort Trail (from the Great Meadow to Fish Lake resort) will take you by Brown mountain, for the "big boys". Most of the trail around Brown was recently groomed, the area from the meadow to the Cabin Trail (west side road, LOW) was really rough. From the meadow to Buck Peak would be a nice family trip too. I know some of that will get groomed Friday.

You may want to consider Annie Creek as well, the snow park is just south of the Crater Lake boundary on Hwy 62. Lots of trails for the family, some pretty fun play areas for short climbing.

Back side of Stukel may be ridable, but there will be no groomed trails, and access is iffy. Medicine Lake always is a fun trip, the grooming is more consistant, especially if you go in through Macdoell to 4-corners. The Doorknob snowpark doesn't see the groomer as often.

That Stukel thing was fun but only before the snow settled, kind of a stunt to do. Swan lake out of Haglestein park is a day of good climbs if good weather, good ungroomed trails..challenging for the family at the tower. Chopkee is pool table flat for 2 miles, has 3 miles of lava flow behind it. The north side of the tower has old growth for a long climb and stunted trees with tree holes and wind rips at the top..fun boondocking.
Annie creek has some good climbs at sand ridge, lots of short climbs and boondocking at goosenest. Liars is a fun family and short climb spot, long gully climb may have cornice at top but we havent been lucky in the last couple years. Pelican is an all day ride from either Lake of the woods ( no resort open ) or Annie creek. Stay near trails with family or run lava flows all day and hit the bowl for fun. The trail to the summit blows over fairly soon after the groomer goes through.
Ash creek from Deer mt snow park is a day ride, the family can watch the carnage in the different bowls. It is really good riding there.
Diamond has the crater lake trail and the top of Baily.
