Road (pedal) Biking

The Lance Armstrong thread got me thinking is there any other snowesters who ride road bikes? I have been into cycling long before I started snowmobiling. I started when I was 15 and raced cross country and downhill mountain biking. I was ranked nationally as a junior. I still ride a few times a week and it has been around twenty years. I love to ride mountain loops. The climbs are a challenge and the scenery is motivating. Any other snowmobilers ride? I know it is almost contradictory to do both. Like I should be driving a Subaru instead of my Dodge cummins. But I love it and it is in my blood. Plus it keeps me in great shape!

I am looking into getting a raod bike and racing more triathlons next summer. I have done two sprint tri's this year on borrowed bikes. I rode a Lamonds (dont know the model) the first time and a Trek 1.5 the second. I am really lookin at a Trek 2.0 but am having a hard time talkin myslef into spending $2k on a bike, shoes and peddels since I just bought a new house and we have another baby on the way. If the economy wasnt so shaky I would do it in a heartbeat. I also am keeping my eyes open for used stuff. You have any tips for someone getting into the sport? I really want to put together a full suspension mt bike as well....i have a friend that built his off eaby for $700.

If it makes it easier to spend the money, $2k is cheap for a road bike.:beer;

not much of a road biking fan, mountain biking would be fun though. I hate the people who ride ON the road.. and thinkk they have the right-of-way.... you going to follow the car trafic laws and get right of ways better stop for tha dam stop sign to..

2g for a pedal bike.... crazy but, what ever makes a guy happy..

I'm sorta an ex-hardcore mountain biker. I had a near carrer ending crash and then got my bike ripped off. It's been a few years but I'm going to try to get back in to it.

Road bikers do have the right to be on the road just as much as the vehicles. But, you are right, they should follow the laws as well.

I said 2g is cheap. Real nice bikes are 4-5g. But they weigh 14-16 pounds and are very fast!

I have been mountain biking for around 3yrs and love it. It is a lot of fun go riding in the mountains, with all the views,and thrills. And for 2g I could have one nice bike, and for 4-5g I could be one happy SOB!:eek::D:beer;

Yup.

Race mountain bikes (DH and Super-D) and ride road for training. I love what it does for my fitness on the sled...end of the day and everybody else is suffering and I'm still able to rip as hard as the beginning of the day!

Ya really, it surprised me how much more endurance I had last winter after riding my bike all summer. Compared to the winter before.

65 miler sat!
1/2 iron tri in 4 weeks
mixing it between running swimming and biking keeps me from getting bored

........plus I got a good reason to get a titanium qr ti-phoon!

Road cyclists are to Cross country skiers as dirtbikers are to snowmobilers! Where I live Cyclists seem to think they own the road and everybody else is there to do their bidding because they are riding green. Might be different in other states but in Colorado they suck! Mountain bikers aren't too much of a problem as they ride the same single tracks I do and when they hear us coming, they just pop off the trail and let us by. We do slow down as to not spray them with dirt and rocks though.

No offense Mtnpull! :beer;:beer;

Downhill Mountain biking is the sh!t! Awsome fun and a good workout getting up to the top of the trails! I also sometimes ride mountain bikes on closed roads for hunting.

Ride back to the top? Redneck lol
We hear in iDaHo ride them chair lifters to the top. lol

I ride my bike a lot more than I ride my snowmobile these days it seems.
I do both road and mountain biking, around 4,000 miles a year give or take.
Just got back from the Tour de Wyoming, which went down into Colorado this year. Climbed over Rabbit Ears and the Snowy Range among others.
Lots of suffering...good stuff!
