rmk vs pro rmk

i had an 09 assault and loved it(minus the three blown engines) but i wanted to be able to side hill and climb better so i bought a '13 pro rmk. now that i finally got to ride it, after waiting for snow and drive shaft fix i can't even side hill as good as my assault. then checked it out at home after about 30 miles and qd belt is missing cogs.
question is, how does the rmk compare to the pro? i'm afraid to go on a good ride, and still be able to ride it home

If you liked your assult why didn't you buy another one then? It doesn't have the belt drive so there's no wory's there. The pro assaults sidehill pretty good in the new chassis.

I snowchecked a '13 standard RMK and have been happy as hell with it. I had an '11 Pro 163 and it ran great, but I was always having to keep an eye on the temp gauge especially in hardpack/firm snow conditions, even with the scratchers down. I wanted that front cooler that comes with the RMK. In view of the driveshaft and QD belts issues on the '13 Pro, I ain't looking back.

Rising temps are a non-issue on the RMK. Haven't even had to use the scratchers yet in 140 miles worth of rides. The open footboards and seat are the same as the Pro. The RMK shock package is a step down from the WE's. I actually like the handlebars on the RMK better than the Pro-Tapers on the Pro. Personal preference, I guess.

I really wasn't that concerned about the 17 lb. difference between the RMK and the Pro nor about still having a chaincase. Been a good choice for me.

Ive Had a '11, '12, and now '13 they all side hill without any effort they are by far the best sled on the snow, I rode a dragon last weekend and you couldn't give me on of those sleds back.

Wy wife has a '12 RMK and I have a 12 Pro RMK. Hers works every bit as good as mine, perhaps even a little better. Setup is everything. I will be playing with my suspension and clutching to try and improve it. She has the e start as well so her sled is what something like 30 lbs heavier than mine? And I swear her sled rides better.

I laughed at this because I can relate to this so much, when I made the swich to the PRO I was fighting it a little and couldnt understand why, then my cousin says im over riding it, so I calmed my reaction timing down a notch and stopped pulling on it so hard and I was off save the world on my unicorn. IMHO give it a little time to get used to, and you will be like everyone else LOVING IT! .. CONFIDENCE.. im a huge fan of the older cat chasis cause im good when i get on them and have tons of confidence, but i can do WAY more with the PRO now that im used to it.

:yo:

I came off a 10 assault to a 12 pro rmk, imho the pro requires less input to sidehill and ride in general... Its almost to easy now.

i am basically wondering how they compare as far as side hilling and climbing

The standard RMK works the sidehills the same as the '11 Pro that I had. My '11 was a 163 vs. the 155 on the '13. My '11 climbed like hell. It would just lock in on the climb and keep pulling. Always amazed me. I don't expect this 155 to climb as well. Time will tell. The 155 does feel like it has a little more snap than the 163 and that can probably be attributed to the shorter track. So far, I have no regrets with getting the standard RMK. Like I said before, I wanted that front cooler that comes with the RMK.
