RMK Track Extension Questions

I have an 01 RMK 800 SP 144 and I am in bad need of a new track. I would really like to long track it to either a 155 or 159. I found a good deal on a brand new 159 track, but I have zero experience on extending a track, so I have a couple questions...would I just need the track, rail extesions, and a tunnel extension? How long of a track can I run without extending my tunnel? Anything else important to know when changing a track/long tracking? Thanks!

I did that exact same thing to my rmk. You need rail extensions and a tunnel extension. I made my own extension. The rear cooler sits in the very back of the tunnel, I made a piece that fit in front of it and put longer hoses on the cooler. SLP offers a tunnel ext.

I don't believe SLP makes an extension for that sled... just buy the 151 close-off from the dealer and replace the 144 one on there. All you need is the extension, track and rail extensions.

I've extended 144 rails to run a 166 track with rail extensions with no issues.

Ok cool thanks guys. SLP makes a tunnel extension for the edge chassis...would it fit the gen 2? Also I have a guy telling me that going with longer than a 151 will break cranks? Anyone had this problem after longtracking? I already have done the Big Bearing Upgrade and had my Crank trued.

The Edge will not work they are different tunnels. Your crank will be fine. You might have to gear down a little. Longer hoses will be needed, I think I just used 5/8s heater hose. Tracks USA or Vanamburg might have tunnel extensions, or a fab shop could bend you up one.

Van Amburg is the only one I can find right now that has tunnel extensions for the 00-01 RMK. I too am doing this swap (136 to 156).

I tried ordering the 151 close off from multiple vendors and dealers and it's a discontinued part so...Van's it is!

On my 2001 800 I went from a 144 to a 159 when I first got the sled in 2003, I had 7,000 + miles on it before the crank went, you will not have a problem. You may want to gear it down depending on the kind of ridding you do.

I extended my old gen2 rmk with a skid and track from a 159" vertical escape. (edge chassie)
I used a bumper from a vertical escape and made a small extension to fill in the gap.
Worked like a charm the winters i owned it (3 seasons).
Sold it at the start of this season.
