Hey guys first thread so help me out. Been a flatlander for years rented sleds in the snowys last 5 years and bought an Assault this year. Would consider myself an intermediate rider but want to go to the top. Spring order which sled? gonna leave it stock for first year at least? honest opinions please.

if your goal is to put the mark on the hill go with the summit. if you perfer the tight trees go with the pro.

but really it doesn't matter which one you go with, but have their pros and cons. i'm sure you'd be happy with either, dealer support is a big plus too.

personally..I would spend a day riding all of them(rentals) and figure out which one fits my riding style and what I like to do....buy the sled that feels the best to how you ride..my only other consideration would be who has the best dealer close to where I live and ride..since dealer support is so important.....

Thanks for the replys fellas and lovin the humor for sure. Dont care much for the highmark love to boondock all day so from what ive heard and read the Pro is probably the better choice so thats simple i believe the only thing that makes me think twice is that i have a great doo shop close by that i have a great relationship with and as far as a Pro shop i would be buying for a shop i know nothing about. thats my problem i guess do you go with the shop you know and trust or the better sled for the situation and pray you dont need shop time

I think it comes down to what your used to, and what you learn how to ride... Dealer is a big part too though. I have a 2011 Summit, its worlds better than my 2010. It was akward riding it at first, but now I wouldn't trade it for anything. It has ran flawlessly for 1200 miles, and I mean flawless, hasn't sputtered, backfired, bogged down, nothing. Haven't had any warning light of any kind come on... which is rare for an XP. Sounds like other people around here haven't had as good of luck, alot of people have lights coming on left and right. So I don't know what I would do if were you, the Pro sounds like its been a pretty good consistent sled, but at the same time so has Doo. In the last Sno-West mag they made it sound like its pretty much a toss up between the Pro and Doo, I haven't ridden the Pro so I don't know. If I were you I would try to get a day of riding on each, and go from there, but if not flip coin or something! Doubting you'll go wrong with either, its all about learning to ride your sled and being used to what you have.

People ask this question a lot. Which sled to buy. I know you are just feel'n everyone out, but the bottom line is that you will get a sea biased responses with a few honest ones. I'm biased because I ride a Pro and love it. Try to ride them both. They feel very different even though they look more similar than other sleds. Just don't buy into the dyno stories you hear about any sled. It's fun to look at but get out and use the @ss dyno and see for yourself.

I've been riding Polaris for years and bought an '11 Doo. I really like the power of the Etec. I like that the Doo is alot easier to get unstuck with a ski pull vs the IQ, it's also easy to roll to unstick it. After 375 miles on it, it's still harder to keep one ski up in a turn on hard or crusty conditions, it wants to flatten out. I wrecked the Doo and am waiting on parts, so I have been riding my 08 Dragon again and love the flickability of it.

I bought a Pro and am waiting for it to show up. I'm hoping that combined with the weight loss and how it supposedly gets on top of the snow better, it will be easier to unstick. I also hope that the narrower bodywork does help prevent the washout effect that the Iq has.

I'm going to keep both sleds for a while to decide which one I'll keep.

Both are great. I have ridden both. I ride an xp. I just can't leave the power and wide track. Based on what you have said I would go with the PRO. It is a little easier to ride for a newer mountain rider. Lot's of experience would lead you to pick one or the other for various reasons and you probably would not be asking. There is no wrong choice here though!
