I installed the head and drop in kit last season on my 2010 assault, the power gains are awesome, runs cooler, too cold? 80-110 t-stat gutted from before, actually stopped putting scratchers down. No pcv installed, still has the stock exhaust. Sorry for rambling here...---> I plugged off the exhaust valve solenoid added new primary and secondary springs and a derelin washer to secondary right before changing the top end to fix a running issue I had that ended up being a broken fuel pump sump hose and clogged fuel filter... From the fuel sump hose turning to powder.. And a bad voltage reg. And a bad tps sensor.. Long story short.. I now have a slight hesitation from a dead stop, like the secondary is engaging too soon low rpm?? My point is that the rk tek kit might need clutching adjustments after install, I only had 1 week of mountain riding in April to test it, will post fix after more seat time

Fix Kit in my Dragon

http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306964

Engine: New cylinders, pistons/rings/head (Fix Kit by Mtn tech Perf) installed by Hatcher Pass Polaris,SLP coolant by-pass kit, PCV w/ DTR fuel maps with a multiple elevation map switch. The sled has strong smooth power from the bottom end to 8,000- 8,150rpms up a steep slope. 159-162 hp. PCV installed at 400 miles & the Fix Kit & pipe combo at 900 miles. Running the DTR D8-10 SLP Stoutner Jan 162 HP at WOT fuel map. Compression is 145 psi in both cylinders.

Exhaust: *NewAaen single pipe w/ new high flow can 7 HP gain 10 lb. loss. This set up is producing reliable power using a single pipe with a neighborhood friendly sound. The sound is a really nice and it screams when the throttle is cracked wide open. The silencer is the correct one tested by DTR to produce the right back pressure.

What made you decide to go with the Fix Kit over RK TEKS drop-in kit. Please no bashing here Im just looking for info and advice. I am putting my 08 dragon back together with an 2010 cylinder and crankcase and im undecided on what piston kit to go with.

I went with the Mountain Teck Kit from Performance Motor Sports.

I didn't like that the fix kit spacer meant adding an extra gasket, with the rktek kit you lose the top cover and seal, it's built into the head, ultimately I went with the rktek for the performance gain, if the fix kit added both performance and reliability it would have been a harder decision, the only thing I would have done different is add an Indy Dan cylinder so I didn't have to worry about a crack I can't see, good luck with the build, either way still better than oe

I went with the Fix Kit last Sept. RK Kit was not out then to the best of my knowledge. Only put about 450 mi on it. After clutching and PCV map change/tuning, my '09 Dragon runs like never before. As stated here by others, either kit is better than OEM and I am sure either one will work great as long as the rest of the engine/cylinders are in spec. Good luck!!!!
