Rktech user results

I just ordered my rk tek drop in kit (minus the head). Im one of the unlucky ones that found out my mag side cylinder skirt is cracked. Dropped it off today at the dealership in hopes it will get covered under warranty. Will know next week sometime what they are gonna do.

Either way if it gets covered im gonna bring it home and tear it down and drop in rk teks pistons in it to try and prevent this from happening again.

As soon as i get some time on it i will do ride report for u.

Great Job on this video!!! That is a lot of pictures to take......but thanks for doing it.....love stop animation! I like how the rings "hopped on the pistons" how the plugs worked their way to their respective posisitions.......very cool. I hope that Pro runs like a gut-shot ape all dang winter!

I was sick of sloppy clearances on new motors that just get worse causing broken skirts or worse. I put in RK Tek's pistons on both of my Pros and just now need snow, but just idling there is a marked difference in how they feel.

Here is an install video on my 12 Pro.

Yes, a lot of pictures and time to make it happen. A lot of people are intimidated by this amount of teardown in a new sled. We just wanted to show that it's not too bad and give people an opportunity to see how easy is can be to upgrade their motors.

Unfortunately I have only ridden it once because of lack of snow, but it sure feels and sounds different compared to the stock pistons. I wasn't really able to measure more than that as my boost gauge wasn't working to see what psi it was running.

Sure hope to get some snow to get some better feedback, but the one day I did ride it sure felt good.

So guys, I want to hear from riders that have installed and tested kelseys drop in kit, I want to hear cold hard facts, did you really see 10+ hp gains, did you see increase in track speed when your climbing. I know stock 2012 pros 155 would get about 37 mph track speed in steep and deep, my 2011 cat 162 would do 42 mph in same conditions, so post your opinions and facts. I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these kits, but I've read so many things on these forums, even arguments lol, that I've got mixed feelings, so bring it on.
Tks

Working on installing his kit now but I'm stuck because I'm not sure of the two different size rings sent with the kit. If anyone has the answer I hope to be out ridding tomorrow..... and be happy to add feed back.

Does the smaller piston ring go on top or bottom????
Thx

There were some mis packaged rings from the manufacturer that gave 1 82mm ring and 1 85mm ring.. This is not right.. so get a hold of me with your info so I can get you the correct ring..

Figured this seemed wrong!!
And we've been getting hammered up top with snow!!!!
Oh well :ohwell:

Not sure about the polaris drop in kits but I have a friend that has one on a 2005 ski doo rev and have over 1200 miles on his kit and had been flawless once I got some minor jetting worked out and the clutching. Kelsey was great help when we had questions too.. Top notch!!! I wouldn't be afraid to use Kelsey's stuff.

Heading out in the am to ride fri and sat on the new pistons. I didnt go with his head since im turbod tho.

Skibreeze does the kit self install or did you buy an invisible mechanic? If it self installs that is a great deal.

Kelsey, I notice the pictures of your pistons on the RK TEK website have cooling/lubrication holes on the exhaust side piston skirt similar to what I drill in my forged CR250 pistons to cool and or lubricate the exhaust bridge.

Are the stock pistons similar? Do you feel this helps reduce scuffing on the exhaust side due to tighter clearances your pistons have?

rk tech drop in

is anyone running this kit in a 13? with or without fuel controller? does it need fuel changes or are they working without the controller thanks

There is a definite need to replace the pistons in these motors sooner or later. We wanted to show that it is not a daunting task for people to undertake themselves and Tudizzle wanted to showcase a different style of video in the process. I wrench, he films. It works best that we keep him away from the wrenches. ;)

Put on a few more miles yesterday at 10k. The smoothness of these new pistons is unbeleivable. Feels like it revs much faster due to the lighter pistons.

Luv it so far, running the 15:1 head on pump gas at 10k.

Well just got back from my sled trip. Put on 2 VERY hard days of riding on these pistons. Everything worked awesome. Sled Feels smooth and rips.

Just got back from riding with all 3 new 13 sleds..

Snow was deep, hills were steep.. fantastic day...

The 858 Polaris is a real runner.. Very impressive..

The new specs for this season are working well.. Got into several 2 minute WOT pulls without a hic-up.

Can't wait to get some more miles on it.. but so far, could not be happier...

Kelsey, can you comment on the above?

The oiling holes, IMO, actually do very little, if positioned in the wrong place on the piston , they can actually hurt..

Our pistons are VERY custom with a very unique design.. It is very difficult to have a seizure with these pistons... Inotherwords, the oiling holes have little to due with piston life
