With this drop in kit (piston and head ) what clutching changes are guys seeing.
In answering this ,what is your sled ( 155 or 163 ) , is it stock gearing , stock drivers , what compression head came with your kit ,what elevation are you set up for , are you running a fuel box ( what brand ) what was your primary / secondary set up before installing the kit and what are your running now in your primary / secondary after installing the kit , are your clutches shifting out all the way (track speed )

It would be nice to see these comparision

Thanks

2013 PRO
13.5 domes
68GRAM MDS weights at 8,000+(MDS usually is about 2grams over BB)
Purple/Black Secondary
Green/Black primary
58/40-46 Team helix
PCV with stage 4 SLP Mapping
SLP Pipe/Can

smooth engagement and very good backshift

hope this helps

this is a little premature, but this is my to be setup,
35-5000'
13 pro
155
stock deep/ steep speed 41/42 mph
bd controller
13.5 heads
rk drop in
Carl's clutch kit
secondary washers
thier helix is 4* steeper
64 grm epi bb weights
2 new springs , not sure the color or rate
was told that epi weights are simular to 11 series pol weights, providing stronger mid range pull.
I had purchased 68 pol weights, but after consulting with Carl's, thier helix is 4 more deg, creating more engine load, than it was decided to go with 64 grm.
I will post my results

8000 + is your elevation!

That’s primarily where I ride...snowys, rabbit ears

First trip I put on 178miles and at the end of my trip I was hitting 8400rpm with 68grams w/MDS...with MDS weights you usually are 2 grams heavier than BB

Example: 66g BB = 68g MDS...

I will be Togwotee 16th-20th and adding the Vipec to the equation and taking off the PCV…we’ll see if I need to add more weight, my gut tells me I will be:face-icon-small-win

That's wonderful news if you can pull that weight at that elevation...:face-icon-small-ton

I have Kelsey's drop in kit sitting on the bench waiting for me to decide if I want to void a four year warranty or not. You may have just made the final decision for me! Thanks

At home (near Leduc) my setup is as follows 2300 ft
Primary:
MTX 68 gram weights with 6 grams added. 3 grams mid and 3 grams outer hole.
140-330 primary spring. Before the dropin kit i was running MTX 68 gram with 4 grams added in the mid hole. But also bear in mind I am getting 8250 to 8300 rpm with the dropin kit verses 8050 to 8100 stock. So I added 2 more grams of weight and still rev about 200 rpm above stock.
Secondary:
73-61.46
black purple spring
3 derlin washers.
Same setup here before and after.
Engine:
Dropin kit 13.1 domes.

Mountain setup to follow when i get a chance to go.

When looking at the secondary clutch set ups , are the helix angles in the stock pro secondary the same as the helix angle for the team tie secondary ?

so what i am asking is , is your team tie 73-61-.46 helix ,to get that same helix set up for the stock secondary clutch have the same #,s , if not is there a cross reference chart .

I used at team calculator to get the setup i had with the stock clutch and the stock clutch had the 58-42.36 helix in it and the closest one in the tied work out to be the 73-61.46 here is the chart if you want to experiment with it.

What is the stock pro 800 163" secondary clutch spring rate ? , I think it is all black , but I see in the polaris spring chart there is 5 black springs ! Is the stock one 155-222lbs if so , the spring should be black with red !

Skippy,

I would wait to install the big bore kit so you can keep your warranty intact. I have road with one of my friends who has the RKT kit and it does make the sled run a little different but when out climbing hills or when in the fresh the difference is not night and day when it comes to performance but the sleds owner says he notices a difference on how it runs. So I personally would not void my 4 year warranty that will buy you a $6000 plus engine repair if it fails unless you were out of warranty. I know it sucks to wait because we all want it now!

Best advice. If you got warranty, ride it as is. Now if you want a BB or drop in, just get a used sled with no warranty, and fire up the mods. Best financial course of action.

I went drop in after my 2 yr expired, just because I could, and I decided not to go 13 for a bunch of reasons. If I buy a 14 pro next year, I'll run it stock for a year, with a 1 yr warranty, and then BB/long rod/drop in it. Very happy with RKT drop in so far. My 14 decision will be based on what's offered in spring, motors, improvements, etc., and after some real seat time on a production 13 XM. When they run, all these stockers are awesome compared to just 5 years ago.
