RKT Head

yep... helps run better, make better power, and yeah, they pretty much are nice. heads are the really only good way to make power on a DOO.... and they look trick as well, for those of us who run at higher elevations it really helps running the higher comp, utilizing 91 octane.

Yes, it is a work of art. I have installed several on other guys sleds and it wakes them up at altitude (running the 14:1 domes, versus the stock 11.5:1). We measured a 20ish psi increase in compression at around 7000 feet (on Gorman Lake in Golden, BC). Taken on a cheap compression gauge though.

That being said I am running an SLP 13.7:1 cause i got it real cheap, and it also woke it up, but is about 7 psi less than the 14:1 RKT and doesn't look anywhere's remotely even close to the quality of the RKT's head. Plus RKT head has definielty increased cooling ability both in volume of coolant and in coolant flow ports. I'm running the 2007 800R, runs real strong with the head, no other mods other than DJ clutch kit and some clutch tuning. I feel the head is a must on the 800R along with a clutch kit from Dynamo Joe, then ride her hard.

14:1 and pump gas huh?!

If you're going to do that why not double stack your base gaskets in conjunction with the head?

You'll raise raise your port timing which will work better for longer pulls, giving you a more sustained power band on the top end. And you'll drop the compression down to a more crank friendly condition using pump gas.

14.1:1 is plum fine to run with pump gas. I have a 14.6:1 and have run straight pump gas and never had a problem. JUst watch your wash and jet accordingly and you'll be fine.
