SORRY MUST HAVE HIT THE 7 INSTEAD OF 6, CLAIMS 160HP!!! MY BAD...

Seriously! 185hp out of a single on 91? It's getting deep in here!:D

thats a little unbelievable, ive heard kelsey makes some great products but thats just getting unrealistic.

YUP.. getting deep for sure.. since that is not written anywhere or claimed anywhere by me on my site..

Sometimes, it is better to investigate yourself rather than believe EVERYTHING that is written on a public forum..:beer;

As for the 15HP claim..I will stand by it and everything else that is written on my website.. So, you can read the website for numbers or just get the make believe ones that are posted on public forums.

Stock 145hp +15 hp = 160hp with a single on 91 sounds much more realistic.:) And if you wanted to pump those #'s up in the case of a few freak sleds on a really good day you could say Stock 147hp +18-19hp = 165-166hp!:beer;

on the 07 M8 I would not run one without an RKT head after riding quite a few with & without. The porting is an even bigger jump & works great.

It's worth the $$ for sure & there is no reason you should ever need a controller, that setup is still fat on the M8. We ran one with a pipe & no box for two seasons also, but we're at high alt.

I think it puts you at about 197.75 hp btw, you can quote me...:p

Kelsey IYO is it worth adding any pipe to your kit?

Yes, on my 251.53HP inverted Y pipe set up M8.. I like the NASA TEK Kryptonite pipe.. Details are on my website for this kit..:D:p;);)

No, seriously, the M8 with porting really benefits from a larger pipe..

We also have some new technology in to test this season, that should make a world of difference but we need snow to test it.

Kelsey would i be safe with a head and shim kit and my slp pipe with no controller at low elevations, ive heard the pipe alone with no controller is getting pretty close to lean so i want to be sure i would be safe before adding a head.

Our head needs LESS fuel than the stock head.. So, the head is not the issue with the controller..

We have tested the SLP pipe on every year M8 with our set up and none have required a fuel controller. But we do not run their can and that can be a factor..

Sorry to change models, With a 1M 900 and one of your heads, Is there a pipe set-up you would recommend? Looking for a little more, But noticed that all pipes loose bottom/midrange BHP. Does the head help correct some of this?

Thanks
Mike

I'm running a 07 M8 with Kelsey's head & port in Colorado. Head first season, port second. Seat of the pants tells me ~5+hp gain each. Really cleaned it up, crisper response and stonger in mid range. I've always liked Kelsey's stuff, well worth the money ..

Then last year I added the SLP pipe/can ... oh yea, that really did the trick! Pulls strong ...

Running a box so I could get it dialed in perfectly. First time I've seen chocolate plugs with this sled. :D

One note, with head/port the clutching did not need to be changed, just tweeked (have RKT helix, also). Adding the pipe, I had to re-clutch to take advantage of the new power curve. Just a consideration if you go all out.

a lot of that is in clutching too....I was very impressed with the RKT head running a speedwerx Y-pipe and SLP single, tried twins a couple times this year and was impressed with the bottom end but didnt have enough time or resources to get the clutching right so I didnt have much top end....climbing sucked, boondockin was out of this world. Other than that my 900 was stock....

Mike,

We ran the 900 Cat for years and years.. GREAT ENGINE!! Capable of big power!

We did not care too much for any of the single pipes.. In fact, the 800 CAT stock pipe (on the 900) worked better than most of the aftermarket 900 pipes.
BUT.. addition of twinpipes and that sled roared to life..

We ran most of the twin pipes and they all seemed to work very well. On a stock engine I think the CPI twins worked the best.. On the ported engines (ours) we liked the SLP (with race stingers) or the Jaws D (1150) pipes. The top end pull was huge over ANY other single piped set-up.

Clutching was an issue... Just run a straight 49 cam with the red/white CAT or SW Blue spring and never touch it again..
Primary make sure you only run CAT weights..

Our Head worked fantastic.. could not be happier.. Having the mono-head design allowed for much less torsional engine twist and kept the crank alive (they were prone to twisting) couple that with the better head design and MUCH better cooling and you had some serious perf gain..

Hope this helps, sorry I missed your question earlier

I'm running same setup on a lightweight 08 with 162 powerclaw. 73# cutler adjustables spinning just over 8200 rpm at 10k elevation. It would take alot of money to get this sled out of my possesion as it's the funnest one I've ever owned.

whats it like?

What would you guys say this set-up is comparable to performance wise?
