RK 858 fuel numbers

Finally got to ride the new 858 this weekend. Let me tell you this thing pulls hard. I started with Kelseys REV 2 fuel numbers. I had a real bad rich bog after 7500RPM. Wouldn't even pull itself through it. I pulled 1-2 numbers from everything over 7250 on the boondocker box. Seems ok now. Gonna do a few plug chops after i get a few more miles on it. As far as clutching i installed Rooster weights with a 150-340 team spring. Ended up at 9 grams in heel 3.5 in the middle and 2.3 in the tip. I am thinking i may have to add another gram once i get the fueling dialed in a little better. But right now it will tach 8450. What is everyone else using for fuel numbers on these? Here is mine so far. Also my tps min and max seemed out to lunch but? 52 MIN and 219 MAX?

Thanks for sharing guys!

I am in the process of putting 858 cyls on my indydan longrod bottom end, thinking this will be a killer combo as my sled runs very hard with the LR bottom only.

As far as the 13rpm percent mode i have understood that it adds more fuel on top, and makes it possible to make more refined changes to mapping. It is also more sensitive to changes done by the ECU as far as temp and altitude, the fixed mode adds a percentage mode of what the injector is capable of delivering without taking into account the ecu changes.(PLease correct me if im wrong)

I was able to change between 13rpm mode and fixed mode in settings in the box, just follow the instructions on the boondocker webpage.

Is anyone running a timing key on these setups?

Thanks

JR

Just had a thought. Maybe those other numbers are for the 13+ sleds? Didn;t polaris lean them out. Maybe the higher fuel numbers are for the leaner newer sleds? HMMMMMM.

Hey powerage do you have air fuel ratio gauge on your sled? If not you should install one and can adjust your fuel map by lookin at the gauge and rpm also throttle position to take away fuel or add

Got new afr gauge installed. Updated original post with my updated numbers. shooting for 11.8-12.8. Had to richen it up a couple and lean it out a couple numbers in a few places. Runs great. Very crisp throttle response. So far i love this engine.

858 #'s

2013 Pro 174 x 3
Team Tied with RK Tec Helix
5000 - 6500 Elevation
Dalton Adjustable Weights . (because I am lazy) Will setup my Team weights for next trip.( Dec. 27 )
13 RPM Mode with Kelsey suggested #'s
Ran my 858 last winter with RK Tec suggested Boony #s and stock pipe as recommended. Spark plugs always showed a little rich but engine ran great so never leaned out the fuel #s
This winter I installed a SLP pipe and can and left the BoonDocker #s the same as last year.
Engine and throttle response are more crisp and spark plug colour shows little change.
I know Kelsey always says to run stock pipe with his product and I did for 21 days. ( that is how many days in the hills I road last winter with the 858 )
With Kelsey recommending stock exhaust systems on most of his product he can build reliable HP without all the different variables of Pipes/cans.
Other big name shops are running R K Tec Drop in piston kits and the SLP pipe combined with a PCV and have very happy customers.
Dec.27 will be my next mountain outing and one of my ridding buddies has done a Big Bore on his XM E-Tec . Kit builder will remain anonymous for now.
First impressions of engine package are very good. May have to ride my Turbo Pro if the snow is DEEP :)

Don;t have a pic of the sensor location but its about 3" further downstream that the exhaust temp sensor. And instead of the 9 oclock position its at about the 10 oclock position.
