Rigged up a snowboard mount for my sons sled

This is our fall project that we just completed….

A fully functional snowboard mount for his new Summit!

A bit of welding by me after the shop closed for the day, some pipe insulation, a bit of duct tape, and a couple of bungee cords,,,,,,,,, and walla!!

$6.80 snowboard mount

A bolt on each mount and it goes on/off in a minute or two……(The mounts)

He plans on bringing his board during a few rides so he can “shred” the powder in I.P

I have to laugh, cause he is also bringing, a waterski rope to have me pull him in the fields around our cabin in island park.

What 12 year old kids think of these days.......

Pretty cool eh?

Hey Jeff,

if your son wants you to "shuttle" him for any distance by pulling him behind you sled do this - ->
1. grab a mtn bike inner tube. Snip the metal part of the stem off of the tube (for safety).
2. One carabiner
3. one non-elastic nylon rope medium thickness (8-10mm??)

Have your put the tube behind him then grab each end and bring it around him to form a harness he sits in. Connect each end with the carbiner.

Now tie the rope to your sled's bumper and have your son LOOP the rope thru the carbiner. I would normally double the rope over then loop it thru the carbiner as more rope makes it easier to hold. This is done so at any time he just needs to let go of the rope so he is not dragged along the ground until you turn to check on him.

Advantage of the system is the elasticity of the tube takes pressure off the arms trying to hold on.

the bungy cord will NOT work! its been tested so many times and failed i can't even count..
right idea with the ATV racks though.. now you just need one more drilled hole and some old board straps.

check out this thread..
I went 2500 miles before my ATV rack finally broke.. after rolling it 100 times..

The pipe foam will probably be cut through the snowboard edges in a hurry. Try getting a bike inner tube and wrapping it around the rack - it's way tougher and provides enough cushioning to protect the edges. Been there before!
